I’m looking into Termignoni upgrade options for a 998. What is in general the standard upgrade from stock? How must I interpreted all the diferences in material, diameters and set-ups (performance and sound wise)? Currently I have Termignoni half system with carbon mufflers, how do I measure what size it is...Outside or inside diameter? According to the guy I bought the 998 from it was not an increased diameter as a 54mm...which was more rare according to him. I also have an eye on a half 50 to 54mm carbon Termignoni system (including ECU)...any experiences with that? I like the look of Termignoni titanium mufflers the most, but it looks like they don’t come up for sale verry often. I’m still new to the forum and also still unexperienced to a lot of technicalities of the 998 (and whole 916-body line) so I’m curious what the experiences are over here. Thanks! Z.
998 uses a testastreta engine so performance parts are a bit rarer than desmo engines as there not interchangeable. Could be hard getting hold of a full termi system.
Zeabar, the silencer cans are interchangeable but the fit is dependant on the pipe connection diameter. You need to measure the outside dia of the pipe on the engine end of the silencer where it plugs into the collector. I have 45mm to 54mm JHP Titanium cans on my 748 (last and sound better than CF ones) which came from a 998. The outlet pipe is the 54mm bit. I don't believe the headers and collectors of the 916/996 and 748 systems are compatible with the 998 although others will know better than me on that one. When you get the cans get the mounting straps as well as these are sized for the silencer tube and there are different lengths depending on the can dia.
