  2. All to common in London, it really used to piss me off when bikes park in the middle of the bay instead of next to another bike that's already there.

I saw this van back into a row of bikes the other morning in Soho as I was walking past. Luckily I took pictures and left a note on the bikes as after the van driver helped me lift them up he just drove off! (His company have disciplined him and have the bikers details)

  3. Ha, what are the chances. I saw that too, didn’t see it actually happen but glanced back and saw them on the floor.

  4. Obviously a fully paid up member of ukgser.com & a proper tosser.

  5. How strange! I guess you work in Soho as well then.
Where do you park the KTM when you ride in? I use the NCP Parking garage on Brewer Street (I can face bike bays any more!)

  6. Not entirely sure I'd be publicly telling folk where I park my bike in that there London??

  7. I was visiting a customer and on the tube that day. I’m lucky enough to be able to park next to my desk and have a ground anchor

  8. Safer than parking it in the street in London where anyone can see it...
(it's also protected by a tracker, lock and the helpful garage attendant (who I keep sweet with the odd packet of biscuits!)

  9. The trick to using bike bays in central London is simply to get in early enough. If you're arriving after 8am you're already screwed. I like to start at 7am. I then tend to try and get the first spot on the left-hand end, rear to the curb and put it on it's centre stand. That way other bikes can park fairly close and I can get on and off on the left side of the bike without being impeded.

If that spot isn't available then I park next to that bike but nose into the curb and put it on the side stand. That way I can get it off the side stand easily because I've left the right amount of space between my bike and the one thats already parked, and if some scoot-tard has wedged his wreck in too close then the act of lifting my bike off the side stand creates the necessary space for me to get next to it to wheel it out.

I also deliberately use the bays that are right on the main roads with loads of people walking by - loads of witnesses. I try not to use the bays down side streets if I can help it. Also, parking next to sports bikes and large scooters is a good diversion as I think they're going to get nicked before a Multistrada does. I'm not saying that the Multistrada doesn't get any unwanted attention but sports bikes are always going to go before a big heavy and unwieldy 'strada is, and the bike thieves just love a big capacity scooter because they use them to tow other stolen bikes once the steering lock of a sports bike is defeated with a swift kick of the handlebars.

This is the strategy I've adopted for using motorcycles in central London for years and it's served me quite well. From time to time I just have to abandon the odd scooter out in the middle of the road but that's all I've really had to contend with, except the one time I mentioned earlier.

  11. A company being consistently crap is quite different to an individual the 1st time you come across them. If said individual did it every time that would be different.

  12. The bay your in clearly is marked motorcycles only so technically the scooter shouldn't be there. Bay taken up by BMW is unmarked so free for all. Love the way this thread confirms the 2 wheeled brotherhood is alive and well. Glad you are now 'over it'. Also makes me glad I don't live/ work in that there London.o_O

  14. and I bet he/she drives a volvo

  15. Is it just me or are the latest range of Volvos quite stylish and cool?

  16. B incompetent, inconsiderate.

  17. I guess the BMW Adventure designers never planned for the width of the bike parking bays. They are designed as far as I can see, for the great outdoors, not the confines of London.

  18. Lord Farquaad is a dwarf. No way is he getting his leg over that BMW Adventure. Must be someone else.

  19. Correct. I’m the Ducati rider.....

  20. Glad to hear that, I've just bought an XC40!
