A spry man of 78 had been holding prisoner two men with learning difficulties in his own home. One of imprisoned men successfully escaped but the other was killed in the attempt by his captor. Aah, but since we stopped hanging murderers many offenders were released and murdered again! About 380 (Google it, I can't be arsed) British people have been murdered by pre convicted murderers. That's what death row is for. Bang em up and when the appeals process is exhausted, string em up. For the record, I've always been against the death sentence, firstly because I don't believe the state should have powers of life and death over citizens and secondly because for really heinous crimes death is too short and too easy a sentence, which is why so many of the vilest offenders try to kill themselves rather than spend a lifetime banged up contemplating the gravity of their crimes. But I don't think I care any more. We are so overcrowded and knee-deep in scum every cull is a bonus as far as I'm concerned. String em up. I'll pull the lever if everyone else is too squeamish. Its only a bag of blood, shit and mucus at the end of the day.

This is a societal problem. Prison doesnt work, theres no rehabilitation only retribution. Lock em up everyone says, and to an extent I too am with the pitch fork brigade becuase Im too am a product of this selfish society we find ourselves in. But I can see how utterly pointless it is. Theres no coppers. Why? No one wants to pay for them. Theres social exclusion and depravation. Why? Coz no-one wants to pay to sort these issues out. You reap what you sow and we are all guilty as no-one wants to pay taxes and we'd all like to string the feckers up. But we all know it doesnt work. Besides we've gone soft. Weve no money for prisons either. Shit we cant even pay our nurses decent money. Or our carers. Even charity execs are creaming off 6 fig sums. Everyones out for themselves and who can blame them coz no fucker has got our backs. We are in a situation where utter buffoons get elected. On all sides of the house. What fecking chance have we got, when 17th century wigs like Reese Moss get elected, or self interested and self centred halfwits like Gove get elected and when you have an absolute tit like Corbyn as opposition. Honestly, theres some, lots in fact, of really good people out there. yet we continue to elect fucktards just coz they say the things we want to hear. Dont get me started on Boris or Khan.

You are talking about decadence. The seemingly inevitable decline of a culture, an "empire", from its vibrant, energetic beginnings to its lazy, hedonistic, minutiae-obsessed end. After collapse or invasion, a new people will arise from the ruins and begin a new, slow ascent but it won't be the old society that does this. Doubt my word? Name me one example of a former civilisation, a society, that has never shown the signs of decadence or having done so, survived to see the other side of its decline.

More than likely, but may well ensure that if it gets to court he'll get the right result. If you were on the jury would you find him guilty? I know verdicts should be based on the evidence but I think emotions are possibly going to overule an awful lot on this one.
Justified or not I do not think putting his picture and name all over the national news is right. A picture with 2 beers in his hand also is not in his best interest. It would not difficult to find out the information but to put it in every newspaper and tv news is wrong.
I hear a lot of the same complaints regularly but it comes down to this... Have you run for local office or at least tried to do a better job than the ones you criticise? Maybe you have but 99% of us, even the more learned and intelligent probably haven't. That's how you end up with idiots and the self serving in charge. I'm not sure how it's fixed, more cultural emphasis on civic duty and responsibility? How do you do that? Life is too easy here. So the natural response is for everyone to not give a shit (e.g. the US) There is this general consensus that everything is getting worse though and 'this country is going down the shitter.' In reality, I'm not sure this is actually true. It's a pretty amazing time to be alive. I'm certainly glad I wasn't around in the 60's, 70's or 80's. They were all better than the decades that preceded them but they don't have a patch on life now... I'm lucky, I'm a white, British, straight male. So I could slot into any decade and have a chance. Imagine being a woman, not white or even worse... gay, in a northern 1950's working town. Fuck that. The NHS is struggling no doubt but I'd still much rather be critically ill right now, than any other time in human history. So it's not all bad. Actually... it's all better than it's ever been. It's just not as good as it could be.
I would echo many of your sentiments here but one word of warning. This is the UK, in 2018. Claiming to be "lucky, white, British, straight and male" makes you guilty of at least four separate instances of hate crime ... if not five. Compare that to living in the 60's, 70's or 80's.
