  1. yip, hows yer new found freedoms and taking back control working out for yah?
    teehee.

  2. Work in progress, finm.

Sorry, I used that word you hate. Apologies.

    : o p

  3. Bang on cue.
And here was me about to say, while as we all know its extremely bad to be white, straight and male (all white people are racist, all straight people are homophobes - presumably for declining to give homosexuality a go - and men are just the lowest of the low), you are just about allowed to be lucky (as long as that luck doesn't extend to being born into moderate affluence and receiving a private education), and you can be British as long as you're not also any of the above. But what is not acceptable, what is completely beyond the pale and what you cannot be, whatever your other qualifications for acceptance in our post-democratic brave new world, is English.

  4. hmm, why cant you be english? does it give you guys the cringe to say it? will the "one nation Britain" being touted by your leaders post brexit make it worse for you?
btw loz, yer wrong, i am all for progress.:p tho it seems a lil retarded when it comes to crime, violent or otherwise in many parts of UK. while some parts seem to be doing considerably better.
for the life of me i just cant think whats behind the disparity between the "regions".
has there been a different message or approach to dealing with the root of these issues. say, over the last 10years or so?
    :D.

  5. Its not English people who have the problem with Englishness Fin. Certainly doesn't make me cringe. There's an entire demographic and political constituency that can't bear the E word. But that's a whole other topic.

Meanwhile, back to the subject of violent crime. This incident occurred in London, technically England's capital city. Yesterday, statistic were released which showed the city has become one of the crime capitals of the world with a murder rate that has outstripped New York's. 47 people have been stabbed or shot in the capital since the 1st of January of 2018
Everyone talks endlessly about policing and the judiciary and the institutions whose duty it is to respond to crime, as though they were somehow responsible for it. When do we discuss the people who are actually committing this crime wave and why do we not question and examine why the same escalation is not occurring in other cities?

  6. yet it was yerself that brought the subject up? and just for the record, i dont think the Welsh have a problem with yah. that's just more media bull. :p. but i guess it suits some to harbor those thoughts and attitudes.
a few years back, one of the worlds major organizations, the UN if i mind right, labeled Glasgow and some of the west coast towns the most violent in the western world, now about 10years later, police forces around the world including the metropolitan force are up here regularly seeking advice from our force and gov on how they reduced crime, including violent crime to record low levels. (lets not turn it into one of them arguments again btw).
so, i guess that means something different is being done in a coordinated approach from top to bottom in society.

  7. A fella on the radio, social working type who was ex offender, works with kids and Afro-Caribbean background, summed up perfectly. The issues is young, black kids of single parents. Always has been, alsways will be, and unless dealt with at the source there is nothing police or anyone can do. While you have (he quoted) 70% of young black men unemployed in some areas, how can you expect anything different.

Next it’s young, white working class kids of single parents, and for the same reasons. But that’s nit the London problem: that’s the other big cities problem.

Get them educated, encourage 2-parent families, get them work. Was his message.

  9. Sadiq Khan Londons mayor has largely been absent from the discussion and has been given some stick rightly so, he is the mayor of London and has a great input in resourcing the met police.

In order to know what he actually means I found an article from Labourlist for when Sadiq was running for and hoping to be mayor in April 2016 where he outlines a 10 point plan for what he would do on gang violence if he was appointed as mayor. He was appointed as Mayor in May 2016

  11. One horrifying statistic that emerged last week was that a child under 18 months is twice as likely to meet a violent death than a 20 year old.

Re the OP, well done that 76 year old, assuming the facts are as stated.

  12. Sadiq Khan is one of the issues, not the solutions.

  13. No, No. It's down to Govt cuts according to Sadiq. Cuts to youth funding, cuts to Met police funding. Since 2014, crime in on the increase across the country, not just London, he only became Mayor in 2016, so not his fault. Nothing can be laid at his door. Blah, blah, blah.

That what he said anyway.

  14. Given the pensioner and burglar were both white; let's not ignore the spate of stabbings and shootings taking place in London and other areas......anyone notice the names of the victims?

Mostly all aren't what you would expect a British name to be; and it seems that the perps have similar names.

IMO this is exactly what Eunuch Pole meant in his famous speech which caused him to become a pariah - 'Rivers of Blood'.

Since his time, each and every Government have done nothing about the matter other than to make it worse or hope it goes away.

  16. MO this is exactly what Eunuch Pole meant in his famous speech which caused him to become a pariah - 'Rivers of Blood'.
maybe he was promoting a self fulfilling prophecy?.
in fact, it was one of the big headlines re a certain campaign from the DailyMail back in late august 2014.
    scum.

  17. Enoch Powell made the Rivers of Blood speech in 1968, it is wrong to judge it by the standards of today, unless of course you want to make political capital over reasoned argument. To help put that into perspective the school that I attended in 1968 had about 700 pupils with 1 non white student, and she had been adopted into a white family, Scottish as it happens.

I do not believe Enoch Powell was a racist and it was perfectly reasonable to ask for a debate before the flood gates were opened.

Blair and Straw have both admitted that they got it wrong with regard to immigration and massively underestimated the numbers of immigrants that would come here and the effect immigrants would have on British society, both good and bad.

Bit of a leap from Arrested for Murder.

  18. Getting back on track i did see last night one of the "cousins" got interviewed and obviously painted a very different picture...at this point in my head i was thinking "are you that stupid to think that people would actually believe whats coming out of your mouth!" - it would seem that the whole jailbird family are a few bricks short of a hod....
