  1. It’s small compared to the original!

  2. Just glad you stayed on chap, everything else can be taken care of.

  3. Noticed you're in Ramsbottom, try these based in Chester... http://www.smartrepaircompany.co.uk/

I did the same thing on my Multistrada in Scotland, 2 up with the wife on the back, only just stayed on but pressure held and was able to limp home, v.carefully!

Smart Repairs fixed both front and back to as new condition, £90 per wheel inc. repainting, but that was 2.5 years ago now so may have increased?

Best i've used bay far, highly recommended.

  4. Can u see the hole on google earth? May help proving negligence if image is several +months old. Also ask for highway inspectin log for that road, if they passed it ok then negligence again.
I got 600 for a ktm wheel & tyre, which i did buy, had the bent rim straightened which i then sold. Good luck & dont be put off buy the multiple letters they send you claiming non liability, inform them you will not give up.

  5. Feck! Glad you are okay.

Some of the potholes around are criminal, they are a danger to life and limb.

  6. Hate to think what would happen, Paul!
Anybody after a pair of BST’s? Going cheap! :p

  7. Because it was only a small crack and didn't need it, but they paid out for a full splitter and I gained £2400 :) I don't think they were insured with Admiral  are you saying winning over an insurance company is not admirable  there was no clause with the payment

  8. How would that have affected the claim? After the pay out it was up to me and would not have affected their next policy premium - explain?

  9. It's his choice to have a repaired item. They don't get to make that decision for him. He started the day with a perfect splitter and should be compensated as such.

  10. Fully agree with contacting the council .... but a word of caution, based on a similar issue I had in a car about 25 years ago .... not sure if the same rules steill apply.

If you are the first person to report a pot hole, and damage to your vehicle, the council are not (25 years ago remember), not liable for the cost of repair. The thinking behind this, is that they only become liable once the know about the pot hole and do nothing about getting it repaired.

Anyone that complains after the first report, are able to claim for compensation etc. But, the first complainant will not get paid out.

Just to cover your arse, get a mate, work colleague, family member etc to phone the council first thing Monday, and complain about the pot hole and possible damage to their tracking, tyre and suspension etc. They are going to the garage to get their car checked out, and may or may not come back with a claim. Get the name of the contact at the council etc.

Then phone Monday PM and make your complaint, hopefully it will be the same contact.

If they claim not to know about the pot hole, you can do your own checking on social media and “find” someone who had complained about the same pot hole earlier in the day.

I know this is a lot of messing around, but with the cost of 2 new wheels and tyres at stake, I’d do everything I could to make sure they are liable and can not squirm out of it.

Good luck, glad you stayed on.

  11. OK - your win. I guess it's your decision about the level of repair that's acceptable to you. I just wonder who is really paying here. You, because your car is worth less having had a less than perfect repair - or the tax payer beccause they're paying for something different to what's claimed. Or, perhaps, an insurance company. (but then, they'll pass the cost back to everyone who take out insurance.

Nothing's black and white. We have to look to our conscience. :)

  12. Here you go peeps! Said pothole on exit of bend!!

  13. Looks like the surface of the moon!
Also, evidence of previous risible attempt at repairing it so the must know it is there.

  14. They had already paid out when I made the decision so your reasoning is wrong - unless you think I should have paid the money back after making the decision to repair, is this what you are saying you would have done? The repair was as new and not noticeable at all :)

  15. This thread is about @kirks1989 ’s misfortune....not about you Stu!

  17. Bad luck Stu. But luck to have kept the bike upright. Obviously a skilled rider :)
I had the same on a hypermotard 1100S , with magnesium wheel. I had mine repaired by http://www.motoliner.com/prices.php
It never crossed my mind to make a claim. So if you can make a claim then maybe brand new wheel. However if your not fortunate and you need a repair , then I can defo recommend these guys. The repair was perfect.
    Glad your okay fella

  18. My friend had the same problem a couple of years ago and complained to Kirklees council. Apparently as the hole had been repaired in the previous three months (but bad weather in that time had caused the damage to reappear) they were under no obligation to pay for the damage. I don’t know if that’s a Kirklees thing or national.
