I would use wider ones and not pull so hard - 5mm minimum but the wider the better so as not to dig in to any surfaces. The Ducati Corse ones are just normal anyway looking at the pictures.
Andy has the right idea by being fussy. I'm sure 30 years ago a cable tie was a pretty known quantity and when fastened would 'hang on to the grim death'. Around 8 years ago i learnt the hard way that not all cable ties are equal when a lighting board detached spectacularly from my bike trailer, twice while driving home from Cardiff. It was partly a low temperature problem but had never known any to fracture in this way before.
the cheap cable ties nowadays, break under the slightest pressure, investing in some quality is a good idea
it's not a definitive test but if you hard bend one double and it goes white first time on the bend then best avoid for starters. Some deteriorate with age I have learnt - if you do previous test quickly in close to freezing temp then have known some to snap in half.
If I get 100 for £2.30 (less than a fiver inc VAT), for me thats good enough to replace a couple every now and then (although I rarely need to).
didn't save my trailer board - first time they failed i double up the amount and still failed one by one after another 30 miles or so. If you are using them in light duty applications then i'm sure most will be fine regardless of quality.
