I have KTech on my R6 race bike and it feels a level above the stock Ohlins on my Panigale R. Thats kind of because the KTechs are the race model and you would have to pay a fair bit more for the equivalent Ohlins version I think. Mass produced stock shocks, even on expensive bikes like the R, are generally not considered as good as the ones you buy aftermarket. I've often heard people say that KTech do better on the poor UK roads and race track surfaces than the Ohlins that are better on the smooth Euro surfaces, but having used both in both places I'd say there's not much in it. Just get the best model of either that you can afford. Mupo have got some really good deals on their 911 range just now as Dave who deals in them is working hard to get them known. Several podium places of the TriOptions Ducati challenge were using them last week and they are doing some serious times.
cheers for that. Im leaning towards the tech to be honest. Price between the tech and ohlins are pretty similar. i just want the best for my needs really. Thing i don't like about the ohlins is there seems to be a few versions DU361 and DU469 Does anyone know which is the latest one and what the differences are between them? Cheers
Also does anyone know the difference between the 1299/1199 version DU 360 compared to the 899/959 DU 361 version? Thanks
1199/1299 has the flat link. 899/959 does not. A lot of Ohlins experience everywhere if you need it tuned, that's why I went that way.
The factory Ohlins you buy as after-market shocks are not the same as the production units fitted to "R" bikes and specials from new by the manufacturer. The factory Ohlins units are a step ahead of the production shocks that come with the bike. I'd be happy with either K-Tech or factory Ohlins. In fact I've got both on my Streetfighter: Ohlins TTx on the rear, K-Tech cartridge in the front. It would take a better man than me to find the limits of either.
I’ll put the ktech cartridges in eventually. They’re expensive for the BPF though as they don’t have cartridges. I needed to change the springs anyway
I have brought an ohlins shock du360 from Ducati Omaha. I'm hoping it compliments the nix 30 cartridges i put in last year. I know i can expect stick for asking but anyone recommend settings for a slim 110kg rider? The nix definitely improved the bikes handling.

Worth considering Mupo as well, no idea of cost comparison with ktech or TTX but rep is growing and lots of recurs using them now.
I too would also be interested if anyone has any settings to hand for a ohlins rear shock around this weight.... Let us all know how you get on with the ktech Rear shock. To be honest I think anything is a vast improvement over the Stock one....
impossible got say, depends on spring, valving, type of use. Just do the usual: start with rider sag, start with all way out then 4 clicks in and change one at a time as you go. Or take it to a pro
Yes always best to set up properly. I had my bike done at mct last year can't fault it but trying to be cheap on this occasion. I will give it a go and end up there later in the year no doubt.
I did buy from a ducati shop they have re-sprung it for my weight it may well be set up. Just thought i would ask for comparison. I will let you know after the weekend when i've had a chance to fit it.
In which case, set sag then find factory settings and start there. Only change one thing, and make big changes, eg add 5 clicks of comp not 1 at a time, then go backwards towards where you started. It’s as important to know how bad feels as well as good
