Previously had a twin spark now have DVT, give me the DVT over the T/S any day of the week, constantly looking for the right gear around town and felt especially when pulling away that it was either about stall or pull a wheelie. Had a little go on the 1260 and that pulls a better gear than my DVT. If I swap my DVT it'll be for a 1260, that is I can afford it.
On my 4th Generation Multi Now (the 1260), I have looked at other makes but nothing is as versatile as a Multi - from Track to Urban riding all in one bike. My previous multi's all did over 25K miles each and they were all reliable Like many others the 2010 model got me home with several lights on the dash at times and was made in Italy but rebuilt in the UK but it still got me home! No issues with the 2013 Twin Spark or the DVT.
On my fourth now, 2017dvt, did 6500 totally trouble free miles last year and looking at a further 8000 this year, first one I’ve had that’s been TOTALLY fault free but loved each and everyone of them, not looking at changing this one any time soon, seems to me if you get a goodun"..... KEEP IT!!
I also bought a pre DVT even though I test rode a DVT before, I just didn't like the smoothness, quietness it just didn't have that oooooo 'Ducati' feel factor... Plus the pre dvt looks like a supermoto just like the Husaberg FS650E I had and it made Ducati's tame compared... Am forcing myself to do the Land End to John o Groats (friend lives near(and did) John o Groats) with the Welsh Coastal road and the NW500 (which I have done the majority of it) and back for the Scottish Ducati Weekender next month... I bought a Multi for the touring (a almost 50k mls 749 here mostly toured) I look at other bikes... I test rode the KTM SuperGT1290 I like it, look on the forum it probably had the same amount of problems as these... BMW XR1000 looks nicer than GS also looks the nearest thing to a multi, and the 2 parked together outside Valentino Rossi's Fan Club shop n café in Tauvllia a couple of years ago... Now the question is: would I bought another hmmm... The competiton doesn't look as good as this, they don't have the performance like this either... *Edit* ( Moving from one dept to another) its to early to say if i would buy another... riding bike is almost like driving a car, abit of a chore... it not like i could afford a MMT bike or a Lazareth LM... so it would have to make do with ''Ducati'' cause there nothing better...
I hung onto my 2010 MY for 7 years, and loved every minute, yes I had thrown a few quid at it, Decat, QD exhaust, remap. Ohlins SCU, etc etc. Now I have a 1260PP and just come back from a weekend around north Yorkshire, and its absolutely fabulous, the torque from anywhere in the rev range is unbelievable, its such good fun and so easy to ride fast. It doesn't need any mods what so ever to make it special, its all ready there! My mate was on is Panigale and couldn't believe how good it was On real roads, there simply isn't a better bike to compare with a Multistrada (any models..) im my mind anyway
Happy with the single spark 1200S (few warranty issues, even happier with the DVT S and will switch to a 1260 S next year. Best bikes I've ever owned
2012 multistrada 54000 miles no problems just bought last of the 1200 dvts .hope this one is as good. Tryed all sorts but all in all multistrada is best in my opinion
2012 multistrada done 54000 miles with no problems it was my first ducatI .have just purchased a new last of the old 1200 dvts, hope it's as good as the first one, tried ktm. Xr1000 etc multi is best imo
Absolutely agree, that 1st Pikes Peak will be a future classic. I regret not buying Jenson Button's paddock bike stickered PP a couple of years back. Still love my 2010.
No I would not buy another MS. I just installed chain and sprockets today, 14x42, and hoping it will make it more fun on highway and getting around town. First ride seems like it will be just that, smoother and nicer at 60mph, engine at 3800-4000rpm makes it a lot smoother. So maybe I'll just enjoy the one I have for now.
I traded in my 2011 for the 2013 and have stuck with that since, coming up to 40k now. I would buy another but the DVT looks do nothing for me and the time and money I've spent on mine means it's faster and lighter too. I toy with the thought of getting another 1st Gen.
Hi I have a 2012 S model . Other than the fuel sender I’ve had absolutely no problems with the bike , although there is only 13000 miles on the bike. Recently quoted £1100 from my local dealer for cam belt change ( Millsport ) ! Local independent £300 who has the bike now. Providing bike not due a cam belt change , great bike and no more expensive to run and maintain than anything else similar
I had a varadero early on and the fugly which is a more involving ride, both are of the same ilk. I do not see me moving from a fugly to another strada but that is more because I feel more at home on sports tourers than any particular fault with the newer strada's. Even if I was free'er with my hard earned and still looking for an adventure bike, KTM seems on the rise and I would probably have a go there Perhaps it's the effect of marrying a Scot for so long , but I now set my budget to around £3k for bikes and spend the rest on actually riding.
