1260 Undecided1260s Or Pikes

  1. Hi all.
Im ready to ride again after my accident last year when someone pulled out on me and wrote off my 15 1200s Dair. Im nearly fully recovered and I am planning to do some touring with the wife but am not sure which model to go for?
Ive not ridden either yet but thanks to the comments so far I'm sure I will love it. Pro's for the PP for me are its colour and exhaust, cons are obviously extra price and the suspension.
I still have my comfort seat, Ducati sat nav unit and the red panniers which I'm hoping to re use.
    Any advice appreciated.

  2. Go for 1260 and use part of the huge amount of money you save on making it look like a PP :upyeah:

  3. If you switch between solo and 2-up a lot, hard to beat the S.

  4. I was in the same situation and I finally have booked the pp. The forged wheels, the Öhlins and the termignoni joined with the sporty design and the exclusivity move my decision to that side. I can do the same as with the 1260s adding better handling, less weight, nice sound and catching more lookings (cool for a bike).

  5. Glad you recovered well enough to get back on to a bike. As a matter of interest did the d air system activate? and did it help with injury prevention in this case?

  6. I do a lot of mixed rides alternating between solo and 2 up hence the move to the S. It’s just so easy to recalibrate the suspension without worrying about how many turns I may need to make to a nut for the perfect setting :)

  7. I was thinking the same thing, if it took a year to get better with the Dair system what difference did it make? was it worth the extra money?

  8. Hi, I got a good deal on the dair bike so hadn’t purchased any clothing, still to expensive in my opinion. However probably would have saved my broken ribs but not my head or ankle injury.

  9. I deliberated between a 1260S or PP

I loved the electronic suspension on my previous Multi, especially for pillion riding
Eventually pulled the plug on the PP and so glad I did, yes there is no doubt if two up riding is your main focus then you cant argue that the electronic suspension is a major factor

However, I think the Ohlins on the PP is superb, it is more focused to a sportier ride, but it really brings out the best in the bike IMHO, but without been to harsh, its still very compliant. Took this Mrs on the back, and she couldn't tell any difference, but I surely can when im solo and pressing on, and as that's the majority of my riding it fits the bill superbly. Because it losers the electronic suspension and has the lighter wheels, termi etc, I think you really feel the benefit of a lighter bike in the handling department

Oh.. And it looks the dogs!!!

  10. Buy the S and get a paint/sticker job, spend the money on touring...

  11. I agree re the handling but not because it's lighter. For me, it's the torsional rigidity and smoothness of damping that totally outperforms the skyhook IF you want a leaning towards sportsbike riding preference AND are not needing to switch between solo and two up / luggage etc. When I ride a 1260s the forks feel like lollipop sticks compared to the Ohlins. The latter were a bit of a bugger to get the settings right but £70 got a pro to get that right for me and then tweak slightly from there. Brilliant.

  12. I nearly bought the PP last year & went for the S simply because we do a lot of over the moors type riding & switching modes was a must. Glad i did.

  13. Yeah, think I’m going to let a pro have a go at setting it up for me

Must say they, been out all day today, and suspension damping is all standard and it’s been brill !

  14. Probably not however i got it for the same as a standard s model as it was a cancelled order. I wouldn’t order another until prices come down for clothing.
