I wonder what the police are doing to stop the harassment’s from his pikey family that’s happening still. Sticking stuff up on the old fellas front wall, balloons, banners, like he was some kind of victim hero. Oh yea, nothing. Sure they will if the fella starts tearing it down....
I think the balloon part has now largely stopped apart from the first year they will try their luck on his birthday and got caught trying to stab an old couple day anniversary. What I hope is the pikeys family threats of the funeral procession going past the pensioners house is not allowed, even more so as there is no need as it is 8 and a half miles away from their travellers site.
If the government provided the Policing levels required and encouraged said officers to act without fearing the finger of racism hovering over them this whole situation would not exist. We are all aware how the "travelling community" earn a living. Theft and dishonesty is the order of the day. Why do the Police turn a blind eye? If the deceased was wanted, why didn't the Police go search the travellers camp sites? Had they arrested him as you and I would have been, he would be alive today and the elderly gentleman would not have also become a victim. Similar thoughts relate to the disgusting state of our murder capital. The gangs have been given a free run for far too long. The petty drug dealing is left to grow. The Police again choose to ignore through lack of funding etc. Before we know it the streets are ruled with gangs who are prepared to kill for drug money and "respect" I believe. Our capital is lost to the gangs and as we know, other cities will follow suit.
Well sort of.. If I found an armed intruder in my house and I believed my life was under threat I'd have no hesitation in shooting them with my legally held firearms and I'd deal with the consequences afterwards. The crucial difference between UK and the US in such a situation is that in the UK self defence would not be the reason why I had those firearms in the first place and I would just as readily have defended myself with a knife (or screwdriver), a chair leg, a cricket bat or whatever else came to hand. And self defence wouldn't be the primary reason for being in possession of those items either. In fact the knife, bat etc would be the more likely choice of emergency weapon since I probably wouldn't have time to get to my firearms as they're kept under lock and key in accordance with firearms licensing laws. Saying that, I bet the police response and legal outcome in the actual case under discussion would have been very different if the intruder had been armed with a firearm instead of a screwdriver and the victim had taken it off him and shot him with it. But should it be different? I don't think so.
Of course, 'someone' will rise to what I say here and ignore a couple of the posts above; but what the hell....... Whenever I see or hear of anything like the lack of proper response and proper action by the police; my mind is always drawn to the two 'officers' in their patrol car in Last Of The Summer Wine.
Have the plod arrested the other fella who was with him and done him for burglary, going equipped and attempted murder?
