hi all an achey back had me testing a 1260 dvt yesterday, cant afford one of those but im thinking a 1200s with the ohlins suspension will be my sort of thing and i have a few questions 1 how the hell do you get on them? im 5ft 10 (and not called stumpy) and the back is higher than my 1098s , do you use the left footrest and cock your leg over while its on the sidestand? or take ballet and yoga to spear the right leg over? i opted for cramp in the right leg as id just signed for it 2 is the ride as "diluted" on the older models i was in sport mode and didnt feel like i was on a ducati, maybe the transition from 1098 plays a big part.... really didnt like the autoblipper it seemed to lurch on downshifts to the point i was covering the clutch 2t style 3 does the ohlins suspension automatically adjust or is that what the SCU is? is it an extra and does it work well? i was impressed with the dvts handling of potholes but it was "bouncy" are the older models different? 4 how do the service intervals compare to 1098 belt changes 2yrs valves every 7500 5 after a full service history and a history check, are there any major niggles i should look for on a 2011/12 1200s thanks for reading
1- always put mine into the side-stand position for mounting. Grab my cock & make sure I pull my textiles upwards into said willy region & hoof ones leg over either grabbing & holding my shin that goes over..depends on what kit I'm carrying on the back. When parked in a tight spot, I am known to karate kick my leg over. 2- press of a button to tighten or loosen things off,...front yoke has adjuster on right side for stiffening up front-end. 3- no opinion 4- small service at 9,000miles & desmo service at every 18,000miles. I've clocked 20k on my enduro & its due its two year small service in a month or so for warranty coverage. 5- no opinion
1. sidestand, bit of Jacko crotch grabbing and high lick like Van Damme over, never stand on the peg 2. if its older Ohlins model likely feel more lively and 'rough' 3. Only with the SCU 4. no idea 5. pourous heads I think were an issues, should have been done under warranty by now if an issue?
Mate I'm 5'10" and don't have any of those issues! I just swing my leg over......you blokes either have really short legs or need to stretch!! https://www.builtlean.com/2011/05/25/basic-stretching-exercises-routine/
Oi! us short people have feelings you know Just because you and that other tall bloke @Wayne58 can get on one ok, doesn't mean we can. Try it with an abused 66 year old 28ins inside leg and let me know how you get on If I did stretching exercises before a ride I'd be to knackered to get on the bloody thing
Ride felt much less diluted on mine after arrow system was fitted, along with K&N filter and Healtech servo eliminator. Suspension set up needs to be sorted like any bike. Sort static sag manually on front and electronically rear then adjust the ‘hardness’ settings to suit. Also make sure throttle response and wheelie control is sorted in sport settings! My 1200s with all the above sorted it for sale if you haven’t found what you’re looking for.
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/new-rider/2018/new-rider-sit-on-motorcycle/ At 5’6’ I can swing my leg over
Is that a piss take? If you actually need to watch a video showing how to get on a bike, then maybe you shouldn't be riding one at all.
You’d think so, nd chances are if you have shorter legs you do. But those who buy these big adventure bikes need help occasionally
Mate, if you seriously have to watch a clip showing what that video shows, you're either a fucktard or you shouldn't be on a bike at all, I mean who the feck was your test examiner?? If you can't get on, buy something smaller ffs.
