848 Termi's Vs. Oem On 848

  1. Morning all,
My first post, aside from the intro, and it's regarding the noise / legality of the Termi Exhaust (full system) on a 848?
I've been away from the UK for so long I'm completely out of touch with what is considered OK on the road now.
Been looking at several bikes, some with and some without a Termi system, my question is, to your knowledge do the cops make a habit of pulling bikes with these pipes and should I stick with the OEM? Some of the bikes for sale no longer have the OEM system.

  2. Fuck it, loud pipes save lives. Unless outrageous they won't care, your far more likely to be pulled for a small plate or speeding. :upyeah:

  3. Just fit the baffles mot time.

  4. I had termi's on my 848 and would fit them again without question. Having ridden behind @Stu848 for many hours in Spain I can say they sound truly awesome.
I don't know of anyone who as been pulled for noise however I'd avoid running your bike for long periods outside your house as your neighbours might not be as impressed as I was

  5. I had a child run out from behind a bus many years ago while on my stock cbr600. He obviously didn't hear me coming and it did about £1k of damage as I hit the deck rather than him!
Since then, all my bikes have had race exhausts and always Termis on the Dukes, baffles in for mot but never on the roads....

  6. Loud pipes are an advisory on MOT, not a fail. I believe. Never had any issues MOT time. Shit, my pani with full akro passed and thats louder than my old 1198 with 70's. Never even got advisory, but used current mot station for yrs and yrs.

Release the noise. Free the Desmo 2.

  7. And in all that time with loud pipes have you ever run over a child?

  8. I think the police are relatively switched on when it comes to noisy pipes but I've never been pulled with them. That said I'm not a dick in 30/40MPH limits, I keep the revs down and I don't push my luck with tiny number plates etc. I also avoid bike meets but if I was going to them I might consider having baffles in the bike, not really sure.

  9. Message received and understood, the Termi's it is! Thanks for the replies.

  10. I thought the standard cans on my old 848 were louder than Termis.

If my recollection of that is incorrect then I know for definite that the standard cans on the 899 were most definitely louder than termis. :)

  11. Did the termi’s deepen the exhaust note ? On the 899

  12. To my mind/ear the termis sounded muted and the standard cans were booming. Definitely a different tone but the standard cans were louder.

  13. Changed mine to Termis and have had no problems make sure you get the ECU to go with them. I have stopped next to the police at the lights and got a thumbs up from them it was a cold sweat moment. I went to an MOT station I have not used before and my bike passed with no advisories.
