Hi guys Been surfing the forum for a good few months now and gleaned a wealth of info so firstly thank you, this seems a nice place to chill. Ive had bikes since I was a teen and am an old fart now, but about five years ago the Guzzi bug got under my skin and I thought of nothing else for the following three years. I now proudly own two lovely old Tontis, a Le Mans and a tidy ‘Zagato’ cafe racer which I built (and recently showed at Kickback). Well about six months ago...the Ducati bug bit. But my circumstances are different. I only have space for three bikes in my single garage, I’ve a new BMW Adventure which I love, sat alongside the Guzzis. The Le Mans (mk2) has got to go to make way for an investment purchase... a lovely old Ducati. So might I be a Ducatista? The purchase must make financial sense and is not, like my usual bike purchases, a ‘heart’ buy. I’ve been looking at 70’s 750 and 900 square case bikes, (which is where my heart lies) but have been offered a nice 996 My immediate Q is (and apologies in advance for what might be a sacrilegious intent on here), how do these more ‘modern’ bikes stand up to being stored rather than used? Costs, pre emptive work etc Thanks for having me.
Welcome. I'd say if you've got a ducati you want to store then look at the fixings and coatings.... They'll be the first to go...if you're serious about keeping it long term then I'd strip it to the frame and rebuild recoating stuff correctly...
Thanks for the very warm welcome So nowt that some ACF 50 couldn’t look after?? The bike is a genuine unmolested 996R with known history in splendid condition. Hey Roland..you know that Beemers are wannabe Guzzis with floppy jugs
Welcome to the forum. Roland was an old rat character from a fictional television programme many moons ago, whereas our Ron..... well what can one say!
