Nice I’ve just been offered one of these which is every bit as nice and more exclusive Ghezzi-Brian Super Twin 1100
Hi Steve, Didn't I say 'IIRC' or 'I think'?.....Yep, I reckon I did, but my MkII first version was made in 1979 and registered in 1980. So I guess your mates' bikes were made in 1978, if you think about it.
I remember seeing one in a bike dealers in warenpoint in norn iron, it was converted and registered for road use, one of the mechanics said you could hear it a mile from the shop .beautiful...
IMO the best exhaust system on the Le Mans was the IMOLA one - my mate also had a Le Mans II and yes, you could hear it coming from at least three miles away - no baffles in those cans. I stuck with Lafranconis though - didn't want to attract the attention of plod.
I know what you mean...i fitted a set of yoshi race cans on the sp1 and quickly removed them,i ran the bike for the next nine years on the standard exhausts, flying under the radar so to speak.
I had Lafranconi PRs on both my LM l and LM ll, loved the upswept look and the red 'propellor' baffle ends on them - beautiful barking sound too!
Better off spending the dosh on a half decent Le Mans from the 80s - much easier to work on, customise and service - plus they sound better - and soon, a good number won't need an MOT as well as no Road Tax.
