I think he'll rave over the DRZ once he's got on it. And he can always buy some off-road wheels for it to muck about on. Of the bikes available to him in what is a rather limited group, the suzuki is probably the best suited.
The E's got the slightly better engine, I'm told, but if it's being restricted it don't make a difference. SM for me...
Super moto or Enduro..........Super Moto every time for me. Like fig says tho, you can get a set of the other wheels to what you buy and swap them whenever. The Enduro does have rubber fork boots on, for off road protection tho.

There is a S, SM, and E. Swing arms -Bolt up on all 3 models -S and E models do not have a chain guide like the SM models do -SM has different caliper mounting than S & E Subframe -S & SM models are the same (have mounts for fender/racks and are longer) -E model is like the S & SM but shorter (no mounts for fender/rack) -All 3 will bolt up to any 400 frame Rear Brake lever -S & SM Models have a tab for a brake switch -E Models have no tab for a brake switch -All 3 will bolt to any 400 frame Engine -E models -12.2:1 Compression -Stage 2 cams -Larger Carb -S & SM -11.3:1 -Stock Cams -Smaller Carb Suspention -SM has different size triple clamps, larger inverted forks, stiffer rear spring -S & E have same size triple clamps, smaller forks, softer rear spring
i guess in restricted form the engine will be the same stiffer rear might be better for his pillion SM?
I think some of the stuff also varies between the different year models too. I mainly looked at the SM, when I was looking at them. I think they call the S a sport or sport duel.....or something like that, the wheels could even be a different size on the S to the SM too.

Not really. There's quite a few for sale up here, that was just one example...... The bikes in Dave Sykes are quite often a few quid dearer, but you get what you pay for in the end. I've had dearer bikes from there, that i could have got a cheaper version of in the past, and I've I've also had good money back for ones I've shot in, cause they like to take good genuine clean machines in, so pay fairly. Oh and the other was an S with double the miles and no history, not the dearer SM. :wink:
Ten thousand miles is hardly knackered, Anth, and it has a service history. And it's closer, which is fairly crucial. Actually I was quite impressed with P&P's little operation; plenty of bikes there, and the boss came across as honest.
I know which I'd choose for the sake of a few hundred quid :biggrin: Bizzare marketing not mentioning the history in an advert...(or did I miss it...I could have) The more expensive SM model everyday. There is a 08 model with 1500 mile on it in Durham too. I'm nearly convincing myself now....but I think a hypermortard is going to be the next to keep the 848 company, if this job holds out. It's started me off again, on the want for one.
The only difference between the S and SM is a chain guide and slightly stiffer suspension. Hardly make-or-break.
