Hi, Im looking for a new ride and was looking at a 1098 or a 1198. Ive herd there seems to be problems with these motors and the crankshaft. Is there a buyers guide somewhere for used models? Thanks!
And if in Spain consider a 1098 Streetfighter, same bike with no fairings - they also had the revised bottom end of the 1198 Does this guide never end
Im looking to spend max 10.000€. I think i might be able to land a 1198S here. Im willing to travel to UK or France for one but price difference is not much compared to other models.
Quick question, I've seen a few 1199 for about the same amount of money in the UK but they have had 2-3 owners and Im guessing this is a sign that there is something wrong with the bike. What do you suggest? Steer away from bikes with more than 1 owner?
Don’t worry about 2 or 3 owners, a lot of people here buy and keep for a couple of years then fancy a change...
So I’m finding that people list CAT D o C accident information in their adverts. Is this information available from a website? What do I need to look it up? plate, vin? Thanks!
Cat C and D bikes are much cheaper - 30% maybe. Many go abroad as when in Europe the Cat C and D category is lost in the bikes history. It is shown (or should be) on the bikes UK Log Book (Title Deed) It will also show up on a check, many companies run the checks and charge from a few pounds to lots. Not sure if there is a free way of checking yet...
Will think it over. Thanks. Any clues if its possible to get a temporary insurance for a 1198 with a Spanish drivers licence? Im doing numbers and renting a van and going over for the bike its not economically feasible.
I'll try and get a hold of someone next week and see if its doable. But I'll bet its going to be tough. I would much prefer to go and pick it up in a van but I also dont have a clue on how to get it in there.
