1098 Need Advise On Buying Used

    How is the vehicle purchasing process like in the UK?
     
  3. It all depends on who is selling - you should be safe buying remotely if it is a main dealer or service centre - and many good independent Ducati specialists. But buying from a big second hand dealer or private could be risky if shipping to Spain sight unseen. I would use the forum for recommendations if you spot anything...
     
  4. I was thinking of going over to close the deal no matter who it was. I still would like to see the bike without fairings and listen to the engine. I just dont have a clue how the process goes.
     
  5. If your interested in mine just ask il can take and up load as many pics on here , few other members have seen mine and hopefully will vouch how clean it is.
     
  6. Will keep you posted. Let me first verify that the whole process is doable. I still need to verify my end. Not sure how the import process works and how much if any taxes I would have to pay.

  9. Desireable extras are Termignoni or Akrapovic slip on exhaust silencers. Even more so a full 70mm system. Quality Ducati performance items are a bonus if a bike comes with them. Avoid tat like cheap Chinese levers, anodized bolts and coloured screens.

    Radiators can start to leak around the LHS top mount. Ironically in this case, cheap Chinese radiator replacements are fine.

    Buy on condition and history, not owners or miles / kilometres.

  11. Thanks for the tips. I'm looking for stock because vehicle inspections won't pass with aftermarket items. Without that inspection I can't use the bike.
     
  12. Genuinely not sure but I thought as long as it was an eu bike then as long as the vat/taxes were paid in the eu when new, there wouldn't be any when imported within the eu? I'm sure some who have done this will be able to help but this is from our own government site when importing from the eu to the U.K. , do you have a similar government motor department in Spain?

    If you’re importing a second-hand vehicle, you won’t have to pay VAT if all the following apply:

    • VAT has already been paid in any EU country including the UK
    • the vehicle has been in use for more than 6 months
    • the vehicle has done more that 6,000km (about 3,728 miles)

  13. Thanks you for the info but I've been told that enven if iIpay taxes in the UK I think Spain wants a part of that and taxes more. I need to clear this.
     
  14. All EU countries have different rules, we get stung if under 6000kms with a 20% vat charge. I think Denmark get stung for about 40% for any import - it’s a mine field...
     
  15. Well I’m finding that these bikes have very little KMs but they are like 8-9 years old. So engine wise Im assuming they are ok but what about things like shocks, springs, etc. What should I be looking at? How often do they need a shock oil exchange or maintenance, etc.
