Anyone done one? While driving to ky brothers house on Christmas day, I passed a chap on a late 90's gsxr with an aftermarket HID conversion. The headlight was like a laser, no one would ever miss it. Anyone ever fitted one of these kits, and how successful were they? I'm concerned more with other vehicles seeing me than light output on the road.
Ive fitted them to my car & they are great! The link below is for an eBay shop who sells HID conversions for bikes but couldn't see an SS version, may be worth an email/call to ask. HID Xenon Headlamp Conversions, Xenon HID Bulbs and Holders items in Tyre Shredders Road and Racing store on eBay! Annoying thing is for a car they are about £70 for two units because of the two head lights but if your bike has two lights you have to pay the £65 twice!
Good info, thanks guys. ill look into ordering kits next month. Could I just buy a car kit and use one bulb and ballast on each bike? Both bikes are single headlights.
Yes, I fitted a HID to the low-beam only on my 916 and bought a car kit as that was all I could find at the time, I only used half the kit.
Sounds perfect. I'm going to look into this in more detail when I get on the computer next. I'll post progress when I do the conversion.
Will any car kit fit all the connections on the Multi? Please could you attached some links for me for all the bits we need? Cheers Chris
I fitted a H4 HID kit to my 750ssie as the stock headlight is so poor. It was a reasonably easy install, the kit has one bulb and an internal position change to the filament for dim and bright switching, ballast unit I screwed to the airbox. It made a huge difference, i don't use bright now as you can see perfectly on dip. The beam pattern on bright is a bit random, on dip its good. I had to adjust the headlight aim down quite a bit, and it has passed MOTs since. Bright Dipped
