1200 DVT Chopped It In

  1. Enjoy the new bike , did the picos and Jerez on mine last year and it was great.
I actually thought the bolts and bits were of a better standard than the MTS , something fun whilst the V4 turns up

  2. No!.......that's true

  3. 1st service done, time to let rip.

Loving the MT-10. Very smooth, loads of torque too. It really does have that combination of v-twin-like grunt and 4 cylinder turbine feel. And the noise it makes even with just the standard pipe is great - a sort of flat rasp. I’ve done a static suspension setup which has made things rather better. It’s more firmly suspended than the Multi with less travel, so more jiggly on rougher roads. Handling otherwise is stupendous. Riding position is more leant forward than the Multi but spacious enough for my 6’2” and I’ve done a couple of 4-5 hour days on it when running in.

Range is around 120 to reserve, which is better than expected as I have been giving it somewhat of a spanking during running in. The engine has 3 mapping modes - wet, normal and party, and I am spending most time in party mode which is hilarious.

And did I mention the engine? Holy cow!

  4. Update on my previous slagging joke on the MT models. A good friend has recently chopped his FZ1 in for a MT09. Brand new bike. He actually chopped in 2 bikes for it, a fazer 6 plus the FZ1 + cash. Saw him yesterday at Squires & he was on a 66 plate last model FZ1. I asked him where the MT09 was. IN his words, & this is a guy who rides all year round & a short run for him is up to the borders of Scotland from ever so sunny Doncaster. I could not get on with the 09. I went back to the dealers & they lent me a MT10. At 1st it seemed a bit better than the 09 & had much more grunt & the sound with the cross plane crank was lovely. The problem with both bikes is the front end washes out when you ride fast. He also said at around 120 mph the font of the bike was very unstable. He said the fazer thou was always planted at any speed. I would never have noticed that as i always ride at 50 everywhere due to my false teeth & old age & vision. (Monacle falls out). So he got rid & has gone back to Fazer. Just a comment so don,t shoot me, I,ll probably croak soon without help. I buy write off bikes , cars, Motorhomes, anything that looks profitable. There is always loads of MT models & Tracers for sale written off. Now it makes me wonder.

  5. Several turned up at Squires t’other night when me and bettes were there. I’m not doubting their performance credentials but by Christ they’ve hit every branch falling out of the ugly tree.

  6. What an absolute load of tosh. Last year I was doing 100 mile-per-day commutes on my standard MT-10 and anyone that knows the A413 from Aylesbury to Buckingham will know that this is a road where a sports bike can actually shine. The handling is pin-sharp and utterly dependable and the OE S20's work really well for an OE tyre. You are aware that this is the exact same chassis as the R1 and R1M? Any REAL handling anomalies would manifest themselves to MANY riders, and merely exist in your friends imagination.

  7. I've not ridden an MT10 so have no idea what they handle like, but the above is not true mate. The rigidity set up is different, the suspension is set up different, the bikes weights are different and the wheel base is not even the same. The chassis is approx 60% different, so sorry, but that's also utter tosh.
