Hi all, anyone fancies a ride out on Sunday start around 10.30 around hay on wye, riding through mid wales to north wales and back, portmeirion, Snowdon? Noting again that I am mostly traveling at relaxed pace, @bradders , @Bumpkin , and @andy huggett , would describe it as too slow I think lol, but then I think of them as very fast indeed........, have fun on Saturday you lot!
Myself and a mate on another Diavel will be around north wales sunday. We usually leave Warrington around 10-10.30, stop at Bala, then to Barmouth, then onto Blaneau and Betwy S Coed, the road from Blaneau to Betwys is sublime, we travel at a steady, not race pace, Stuart
If there was enough interest I could have a bimble to north Wales. I don’t know the roads but I’m sure I could find my way
Will have a look at map, only been north wales a couple of times and never on the bike, what circular route could you recommend for north wales coming up and leaving again for mid wales @CINNABULL ?
Havent a clue from mid wales mate, we usually do virtually the same route when we do Wales. Nice roads, nice stops and a lot of other bikers out. ET you're from up here somewhere aren't you?? Just looked, Holmfirth, come over the 62 and set of with me and my pal from Warrington if you like... Stuart
@CINNABULL pm me with your thoughts/plan for Sunday and I can liaise with @bettes And perhaps you can liaise with the southern group as to where to meet and at what time?
OK, myself and Phil, another diaveler, will leave Warrington around 10.15 ish. Our route is m56 to Wales, onto the Queensferry bypass then towards Mold on the A494. We will usually fill up at a Shell station this side of mold, as we like to do around 100 miles then look for fuel. If we fill up there we know we can get at least to Barmouth (our destination) no probs. From Mold we head towards Ruthin on the 494, through Ruthin, then onto the A5, where we usually have a coffee break at the Rhug Estate Café. There is usually plenty of other bikers there as well. Now, theres 2 routes we can do from there, either stay on the A5 and get to the bike stop at Betws Y Coed, another break for coffee or whatever, then onto the A470, through Blaneau Ffestiniog and onto Bala, OR stay on the 494 into Bala, another stop if you like by the lake, and then from Bala we head into Barmouth. Theres a nice friendly pub in Barmouth called the Last Inn, and we usually drop in there for a shandy and dinner. Coming back, basically the same way. If we go via mold, ruthin bala barmouth, we will usually go back via blaneau and betws, or vice versa if you get what I mean. Its hard to give times as I've never bothered with that before. However, we don't race, but we don't hang about either. Theres plenty of pocket rocket boys out on these roads as they are fast, wide, smooth and through the valleys, in fact last week one came off on the Blaneau road and it was closed and I don't want to become a statistic.
