paint scheme idea ( your thought please)

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by magic1, Jan 25, 2013.

  1. Had a spare set of fairings including tank kicking around and figured it,s time to paint them. Fancied something a bit retro, and altough it is completely un - Ducati or bike related i have started to lean towards this design. ( possibly swayed by my surname being Yardley) any of our older members remember these Mcclarens in the early 70,s ? so what do you think,.... neat or naff?

  2. Like the gulf schemes in general, but prefer the gt40 with more blue. Like this.

  6. I like the idea: sort of retro advertising for brands that have bitten the dust - excellent!

I bet you could do a great Cornflakes bike with that chicken's head on it and "The best to you each morning" in script. I may have to look into that...

  7. talking about retro advertising, here is todays useless piece of info,... Did you know that Salman Rushdie was the man responsible for the " A finger of fudge is just enough " jingle in the late 70s. (should have got a Fatwa for that one too!)

  8. Oooo now I'm liking the pink one

  9. A lot more accessible than his novels.

I will admit to having The Satanic Verses since about 1989 and still not having read it.

  10. I tried reading The Satanic Verses. Couldn't get past page 20. Boring.

Back to the colour scheme.........I like the retro styling.

  11. I remember those well and his fatal at Kyalami, sadly one of many at that time. I think it's a bit close to Repsol for my liking, but depends on the execution.

  12. Or you could be totally non-PC and do a JPS.
