Took the Monster out for a quick spin a week or so ago, first time out for several months. quite alarmingly i found i had no back brake, nothing at all, in fact the lever traveled all the way down and fouled the exhaust. checked the fluid and the reservoir is full pads look OK, so where has the pressure gone?
Happened to me last year. Rear caliper needs bleeding but needs removing to get all air out. My dealer did it under warranty. Known issue on most modern single sided Ducatis apparently
Mines shit, spongy shit. It's always been like that. I find when riding the Monster I tend to rely on the two big ones up front instead.
Apparently a good heavy application on a regular basis of the rear brake to get the abs to kick in stops it going spongy, seems to have worked on mine so far
My MV Agusta Brutale used to have that problem. I had to bleed the rear brake every 4 weeks to get it working properly. Thankfully my monsters rear brake is good.
It was good.......Now its cack.......booked in for repair and i get to test the V4s. every egg a bird
Had this happen to me only yesterday. The rear brake pedal would touch the exhaust it went that far down, adjusted the travel, but then whilst out on a test ride the rear brake nearly locked up, and "blued" the rear disc. Thank god I wasn't blasting down an A road! Going to call my local dealer Monday after reading this thread.
Can the members who have had this "issue" looked at under warranty please confirm the name of the dealership who are aware of this issue. Mines gone again, and "On Yer Bike" state they have never heard of this problem before.
Not only did I have to pay... That after my trip to Le Mans GP its gone again, and that was after 250 miles on the way there...... (not including my 6 mile ride home from P&H!!). Lets see what the excuse is this time.
What! take off exhaust, rear wheel, master cylinder then bleed. Why would i want to do that? It should work in the first place. I bought a premium product in Ducati and have done many a time. Plus, I dont want to go through this every three weeks. If there is a warranty issue they can sort it.... There, i feel much better. Thanks Camelfarmer...
that's not the point in my case ..bikes under warranty and it shouldn't need bleeding every 3-400 miles ..
