Leave it stock! on the front and fairings I think it looks great as it is! I did this to my seat unit...
as youy may have read on another thread : for the next 6 months, i will have to focus on the 1199R track project.. so many thnks for you comments here! Koen
Hi everyone, as you might have guessed, i'll be spending some time on the other one, so i'll wiat with this one for now ! tx Koen
Listen to Shaun. Koen, Leave it stock. Or as B without the white stuff on the screen. And put the 749R tank on. That's key. It gives the bike a proper torso. The stock tank is weedy - a real styling blunder by Ducati that has to be put right. And the carbon mirrors work, especially with a DP carbon race filler to pick up the detail. But that's it. The rest is just tasteless in my opinion. Attached is a shot of my nose when I did the carbon intake detail. Looked rubbish. Way too fussy, even with carbon EVR tubes behind it. So I put it back to stock. I'm not a tart and I don't want a tart's handbag as a motorcycle.
Oh for heaven's sake, Jerry. I've heard about you and your top vents... I recon Pierre was on the sauce when he put those in. Don't get me wrong I'm a big Terblanche fan, but he did have a tendency to make things rather fussy. Or someone on his design team did. Have you seen his original styling drawing's for the 999 in Cathcart's book? Oooo dea. A narrow escape, I recon. A bit like he couldn't help but keep adding bits. The later nose gets my vote every time. And the Febur faired-in nose is the best of the lot. Basically, anything that shouts 'please look at me' is naff. Period. And 'less' is almost always 'more'.
Calm down, calm down! Personally, I think the earlier, narrower top fairing has issues, but the R and RS fairings are slightly wider and carry the vents better.
Can't disagree with that! And I had no idea that the R had a wider fairing than the S etc. Learn something new every day... I knew the 05-on was re-profiled for the better (the screens are, of course, different, too). That's all. And be assured that I am pathologically calm. All views firmly tongue in cheek.
Gosh. That's lovely. So love baby Rs. And those vents look rather good from that angle...! Am I about to become a vent-convert....? How fickle I am. Besides, if you've got a 749R you've gotta have vents if you want a proper body, so vent-love is important for you. Hmmm. I think I've vented enough.
great input... Shaun, your bike looks great but i would drop the renthal progrips in an eyeblink... i' ve got a carbbon tank lying around that i will install once i 'l know where to have it repainted togehter with the 1199 job... grtz Koen
How funny. Just before posting my last I decided to delete the line exclaiming furrow-browed, hands-in-the-air dismay about Shaun's light grey Renthal-glad grips... Being super-new to this forum I thought I ought to earn some brownie points before getting theatrically animated. But Shaun, Koen's spot-on. The MG Maestro light grey grips have gotta go, because the rest of your delectable bike is just so right. (I'm bracing myself for a smack...).
:frown: I've only just changed them from black/red Pro Grips. I thought I'd give the Renthals a go.... This from last year when I had black body work.
Koen, have you got a couple of detailed pictures of your carbon clip-ons? I've seen them in a few photos that you've posted but they've not been the main subject of the pictures if you get my drift? I was curious as to the strength of them as apposed to alloy tubing and if they are weight saving, why don't the WSB or MotoGP teams use them?
