Need to do a belt change service on a 916, belts plugs and fluids... anyone know an estimated Mount of time it will take do have done at a service shop?
Nevermind, got it in the shop to day. For records, at my local shop its a 2 hours charge for just the belts.
Fairing and battery tray removal takes about 10 mins. Tank and airbox another 10. Actual job can take the remaining time. 2 hours sounds reasonable all in.
Agreed 2 hours seems fair, unless you have an EVR airbox which has the throttle bodies inside it, requiring removal of everything and then re-sealing the airbox and checking of TPS/throttle balance etc. when re-assembling. Plenty of scuffed knuckles re-fitting the throttle cable and breather hoses, need to add an hour on but since everything is apart I always think, might as well check the valves and rockers whilst in there. I schedule it during the winter months when I can take my time. Best way would be to have a racing style airbox with removable sides, that would save time as you could do the rear cylinder belt with airbox in place...
Just to follow up, I brought the bike in with the plastics off. The airbox has the carbon fiber intakes which just pop out Would have done it myself if I had time... to many other projects right now.
I have a mechanic friend that can change the belts in a few minutes and have them to the right tension. I took off the covers and he carried on. The time aspect seems to be on the mechanic if they know the model. A ducati mechanic should be the quickest.
