Mixing Slicks And Scs

Discussion in 'Tyres' started by Cream_Revenge, May 23, 2018.

  1. Hey
Due to not planning ahead my SC rear currently heading my way may not be here for Donny Monday.

I've got a scrub slick in the garage.

Is it OK to mix a SC front and slick rear?

Never ridden on a slick, are they any different?

  2. They don’t have tread I’ve heard

  6. Luckily this can't be moved to the FireBland section :upyeah:

  7. they are if its raining

  8. Doubt I'd be out on SCs if it's raining.

  9. Better other way round ime, you want more grip at the free by than back.

  10. And depends on slick. A race SC will have more grip than the slick SC pro, as compounds are different. The Pro is road runner where the SC track, even with cuts, is race rubber.

  11. SCs are just way to bloody complex.

  12. I think the road SC are pro as well? Haven’t used them in ages. I know they have been messing with the Diablo tags a lot too. Rule of thumb, if it’s compounded like SC1,SC2 it will need warmers and be rave rubber and will have more grip than the Superbike pro slicks. The proper slicks, also graded, have immense grip by comparison and again ime wear a lot quicker on the rear.

  13. Slicks will run at even lower pressures than treaded and have marginally more grip. The treaded SC's tho (depending which comp you have) have mega grip, just warm them up before pressing to hard (even when using warmers).

I ran V02 slicks at Slovakia last year - crazy low pressures and barmy levels of grip.

Read the manual regarding which level of TC to have for slicks. I think it says slicks should be run on setting 1 or 2. But check the manual.
