Not sure, he said the bike is an 18 plate new non pre reg bike with the above extras, so either way, a decent deal I think ?? My multi is a 16 plate with 9000 miles on, and i'm stripping off the few extras I put on so hes getting it bog stock.
Seems like 1200S’s are going for 12-13k retail so sounds like a fair deal. Similar to my thoughts on it. I could have waited and got a better deal but then I wouldn’t be using it till next summer. You’ve just got to get the run in out the way now to get rid of the artificial limiter.
Good news Wayne! You’re down south aren't you, we should get out on the Dukes when it arrives. On the colour front, I was going to go black but noticed lots of paint swirls and it put me off. The bar end mirrors are a real winner, they still get vibey like the OEMs but actually give a better view and look good. This is a crap photo but you get the idea.
Maybe.. There's a couple of things that are starting to annoy me. The progressive throttle I've never liked. I wish it was a 1:1 cable throttle that gave you 100% of what you ask for exactly when you ask for it. And the handling just isn't good enough. I could replace the suspension, stick on a Rottweiler and have full custom map etc but I did all that and more with my Ducati at vast expense and wished in the end I'd simple saved my money and bought something else. I don't want to make the same expensive mistake twice. Could trade it in for a new SDR perhaps but I don't like the keyless ignition and superfluous electronics and the new colour schemes do nothing for me at all. I only really like the original orange Superdukes and they don't do that colour anymore. Maybe I should test ride a new one.. I could overlook its defects if it was the only bike I had and just revel in the engine. But the truth is, precisely because of its flaws, I'm actually faster in most real world situations on the 1190 and hand on heart, I enjoy riding the 1190 more. Ideally I'd get shot of the Ducati and use the money to do all the mods on the SDR and then decide, but I can't see that happening. I think I'm stuck with the SF forever, unsaleable and unrideable. Its been off the road so long now I expect the fuel pump is shot, and being Ducati that'll £600. I wish I'd never bought it... Sorely tempted to get shot as is for the best price I can get, spares or repairs.
Couldn't you get the bike if it was the right one, get it wrapped to your colour preference which wouldn't be much on a bike, then when time comes to sell, all the bodywork would have been protected?
I tried the MK1 back in 2015, and the MK2 is not a huge leap forward, but is definitely more refined, and I found the fueling and throttle response to be near perfect....Maybe worth a ride Gimbo ?? PS, the keyless go works really well as it does the fuel cap also, unlike the Multi which you still need a key to fuel up. How come you don't like the keyless go mate ?? I found with 3x Multi's, that now I have had it, won't go back....
I've ridden the 1290 Adv S a few times now and every time there have been issues with the keyless system. Nothing serious or debilitating but it's left me not trusting the technology. I assume its the same system on the SDR. Even if bug-free I just don't like the idea. The only manufacturer who's been using it for years with seemingly no problems at all is, unlikely as it sounds, Harley. All the Europeans seem to have problems at some point. Or maybe I'm just too old school. I will try a new SDR. I might try the GT as well but I am beginning to wonder if I've just moved on from super nakeds. I would to try some completely different biking flavours as well. I just wish I could get rid of that Streetfighter and liberate some pennies. Wouldn't need to weigh up the Superduke's future then.
