1200 Racefit Slip On

  1. Has anyone used one of these with a stock system, I want to upgrade from the stock ones but really unsure on what to do on but love the look of the RaceFit, any input would be much appreciated!

  2. That might be rather loud...

Other options - Arrow (see my pic <—), SC Project, Spark, akrapovic and a few others, most available on eBay

    Ped

  3. I tried a Racefit style stubby can on my 1200S and my neighbours still hate me.

I'm all for a bit of extra bass, but it was just plain rude. Our large displacement engines move a lot of volume of gas around and they do unfortunately require a fairly decent size can in order to dissipate the noise - hence why the stock can on mine actually sounds ok.

For what it's worth, I've seen and heard Ped's bike (post above) and he's got it about right - nice bassline without being obnoxious.

  4. RaceFit are well known for loud pipes. No silencing, just the pipe. They are the kind of company that are willing to work with you though and they can adapt and fit baffles etc. Obviously that comes with associated costs though.

My uncle fell in with the owner and has since become a RaceFit whore. All of his RaceFit systems have been obnoxiously loud.

  6. They are stunning peices of work. We always spend about 45 mins chatting to the owner at all the bike shows and my uncle comes away with yet more shirts, more key rings, another idea for a system for his latest bike. Most recently he came away with a RaceFit titanium spring puller... he’s never turned a spanner in his life :joy:

All stems from when the RaceFit guys were starting out. He saw my uncle walk past and he stopped him to ask about his Panerai watch. If you ever sell it i’ll take it. Years later, they kept in touch and he did sell him that watch. I’m sure the RaceFit guy saw it as in investment. Spend on the watch and receive more from him in merch and exhausts ;)

  8. I run a Black Arrow with Carbon Tip on my Monster but these Mivv slip on's are great. Had one 18 months back on a BMW R1200R LC and it was great quality, looked nice and sounded ace!! Would recommend running with one of these.

  9. That will be Jon. (AKA Keelin')

Good friends of mine, and I was around when Racefit all started off in 2004. They are excellent pieces of kit, very well made. They are very loud, always meant to be and always will be. Jon & Phil make no excuses for how loud their cans / systems are.

  10. Can any of these be fitted without an ECU upgrade?

  12. My findings on a Multistrada 1200S and Monster 1200S are that they fuel loads better with a can fitted, and that they run rich as standard. No remapping or new ECU required.

  13. If there's a cat between the headers and where you'll mount the racefit it won't be that loud I wouldn't have thought.

On the multistrada 2012 the end can is pretty much there for a finishing touch, you can remove it entirely and I did think it got that much louder

  14. I should clarify that when I said Multistrada I had fitted a de-cat pipe. Obviously on the Monster the cat in is the can, so no issues there.

  15. I fitted my Monster S with the Black Arrow Can so that got rid of the CAT, I disconnected the noise suppressor Flappy Valve and just had to buy a plug in thingy off of ebay to go where the Flappy Valve motor was connected so as to stop an error code flashing up and that was that. No ECU upgrade. Bike is noticeably more powerful given that it can breath a little more easily now without the CAT fitted and sounds awesome. (Left baffles in as way too loud with them out!)

  16. Apparently you don't need the plug in thing to fool the ECU there's no flap servo on the Monster - I found that out after I'd fitted one too. I removed the servo altogether on my bike - not an easy task - it's buried inside the swingarm, under the battery!
