V4 Engine Diagnosis-mil Light

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Dukepaul, May 27, 2018.

  1. Hi, my bike was in yesterday to have the recalls done, rode it back approx 50 miles and no problems, went out at 6.45am this morning and travelled about 15 mile then stopped to meet up with some mates, had about a 15 minute stop then set off again at which time my "engine diagnosis Mil Light" came on, there didn't seem to be any issues with the bike but stopped and did the usual check over and couldn't detect anything wrong, decided to abandon the morning ride out and limped home. Has anyone on here had issues like this or with this diagnosis light? I am taking it back to the shop first thing on Tuesday morning and hopefully it is something simple to correct because I am off to the TT on Thursday morning.

  2. Five says it’s vlave related. Assume you can’t access the code via the screen?

  3. No unfortunately not.....

  4. Ffs I’m really becoming disillusioned with Ducati. Brand new bike in for recalls and still not allowing us, who buy the f*cking things, to look up codes to self help.

  5. isn't that the same for cars though? i'm an hgv technician, all we get are hexadecimal codes that mean feck all!

  6. most still have access via obd at worst, if not through the dash, although if it’s a P code it may not be decoded but know8ng th code, and using google, you can normally find the issue.

And cars don’t have the mil on every few months even when new, unlike a Ducati

  7. lol, good point!!

  8. Nowadays if there was something seriously wrong the bikes now go into “limp mode”. If it didn’t do that then my guess is that the dealer will sort it in five minutes.

  9. Do you think it would be safe to ride this to my dealers - 50 miles or would it be safer to trailers it there?

  10. Orange light normally ok, as rule of thumb. Red light stop.

What were the recalls? May be a sensor has been dialogues/not fitted back properly? Have you a standard or aftermarket system, could be a map reset has changed something if you have an up map or similar?

  11. everything is standard, the recalls were fuel leak fix and cooling stuff I think

  12. id ask them to fetch it

  13. I would insist they fetch it and bring me a bike to use while it was being sorted

  14. I will stick on my trailer and get it there first thing on tuesday morning then, the dealer is shut on wednesday and I go to the TT on Thursday, so it has to be fixed on tuesday or they give me a loaner for the TT....

  15. Cycle the key, the light may well disappear. Then the dealer should be able to find it in the history.

  16. Bikes are getting as bad as cars these days for EML problems, won't be long before bikes have stricter mot rules as well.

  17. So I trailered my bike into Ducati Italia in Lincoln this morning at opening time and explained the situation, the guys there were great, realising I am at the TT on Thursday, hooked the duke up and found that it was the exhaust servo that was knackered, due to my urgency of needing my bike we had a chat about options (very limited) so agreed to sacrifice the servo off their den bike as a doner, long and short of it is I have a bike to do the TT and they have a satisfied customer, all in all i can't thanks Phil and his team enough for the service they have provided, excellent.....

  19. Bit of advice needed:

My engine light came up today and DAVC amber light solid (not functioning). They came on as soon as I turned on after not riding the bike for 2 weeks. Limped mode came on too so limped to a car park to investigate and found nothing.
    ...
Then turned on again and DAVC light was off but engine light was on, no limp mode.
    ...
Then rode toward home and engine light went off, bike now fine.

I'm miles from the nearest dealer, so since no light now = no problem?
