  2. :astonished:

There is nothing at all to prove that you have to come up through the route of Moto3 / Moto2 to be a great in MotoGP. More like Dorna control the series now to such an extent, that they also control the path into it.

  3. i quite fancy that Mick shes looking naughty;)

  4. Rob.............The history books/records speak for themselves:upyeah:

  6. :kissing_heart:

  7. Nicky Hayden was the last of the SBK riders to make the leap to MGP champion.

  8. And what a great champion he was a fab racing year with Rossi:upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:but not from WSB but from AMA:thinkingface:

  9. You know that AMA is SBK, right?! And that WSB is a higher league than AMA?! :p ;)

  10. I think i made my point about WSB:upyeah:and the other less formats:upyeah:Mick was not in WSB??????????????

  11. Your point was champions have to come thru the MGP feeder....Doohan also rode SBK but chances are, back then, there wasnt really a ‘feeder’ mentality. More you could ride a big bike fast, have a crack on this!

  12. Mick Doohan gave Yamaha there first win in WSB on an FZ750 this was mention in WSB this weekend by the pundit's.

  13. i stand corrected he did race a few in WSB:blush::blush::blush:

  14. point taken:upyeah:

  15. But I think you’re right. If you don’t come thru the ranks you don’t stand a chance..

  16. Really?

Can you explain your post for giving this guy the 2nd Ducati seat then?

    Foot in mouth

  17. Ar, you’ve become like exige and some of the other specials in trawling threads to try and f8nd inconsistency

It’s as much about getting the chance as having the skills. If you come thru the ranks, sponsors are likely to follow and you can more easily argue the adjustment to the major class will be easier. And that transition to big power is the main thing to manage, not all the micro adjustments that can make a 10th difference here and there.

Do I think wsbk riders would make a good fist of it? Yes, without doubt. I really think Bayliss on the right bike would have been a contender, and Rae a few years ago as well as Chas. Big fan of Camier: if he went straight in post BSB, got a decent satellite (like Tech3) and stayed there I think he would have been top 3 material. They simply won’t get the opportunity, and think on that there have been 2 or 3 brits most years for the last 10 in the top class.

We all have opinions, but the facts are that >95% of MGP riders in all classes come via the ‘Dorna preferred’ route. The balance are from key countries that don’t have the feeder classes...Australia, USA, UK for example

  18. No trawling, :( I just remember you lauding Petrucci whilst I was defending Lorenzo, and a quick look back confirmed it. It look less than 20 seconds.

If an inconsistency is there, then surely I can point it out without fear of upsetting your sensibilities.

Anyway, I've said all I'm going to say on this now. :innocent:

  19. I’d like to see Petrucci on it, defo, if he can stop being a bit rash. Bit I do think the Ducati seat is a poisonous one: takes a particular type of rider to get along with it
