  4. Several 848 Evo Corse SEs up for sale for high £8k. Well worth the extra IMO. Andy

  5. Also depends how you get your kicks and what you use it for. Ego aside if you want something that will scare the bejesus out of you 1198. If you want to feel like you’re somewhat capable of giving it a work out and don’t mind riding a girls bike 848. In reality unless you’re an exceptional rider both are plenty grunty

  6. Had an 1198

  7. Had an 1198 great bike as you say thou a lot at full chat got a multistrada at mo great bike but just not a sports bike

  8. So what's the budget if 1198's are too much, as 848 EVO's are similar or more?

  9.
  10. 7500 /8000

  11. See post 4 :)

  12. White 1198 in Ducati Peterborough under 8k ...7000 odd miles

  13. Each to their own, but I’ve enjoyed being able to wring a bike on public roads without having to hit a tonne everywhere you go.

That said, going to an 848 after an R1 was jarring. I’d imagine a 1098 would have been less of an issue.

Knowing what I know now, I’d probably go for a 1098. I imagine it sits somewhere between an IL4 750 and 1L.

Saying all that, if you have issues with your manliness then go for the 1198 and forget what you actually want.

  14. I was recommending the 1198 over the 1098 mainly due to the upgraded bottom end which was upgraded for a reason

  15. I just paid £8000 for this, it's done 6k miles, and has all the bits I wanted on, Ohlins shock, Oberon slave cylinder, and the pipes and ECU. Also that included a full belt service and 3 month warranty. I don't think it was 'cheap' but happy with it for value.

Also I just think you can ride a 848 evo way harder on the road than the big ones, even if it is similar money. I just never feel it wanting more power.

  16. Whilst I agree with this and love my 848, I do very occasionally miss the scary brutal power of previous 1000cc bikes I’ve owned.

For me the ‘upgrade’ would have to be 1198, not 1098. Except I’d get a 1299 when/ if I upgrade.

    Yours, on the fence.

  18. Not with the bits mentioned. It's going to handle like it's on rails.
