Hi all, bike now out of warranty so considering doing a few mods, (pipe, filter, remap) came across rave reviews about this on the US Diavel forum, messaged the sellers several days ago but no reply (which doesn't give me a nice warm feeling) looks like a nice bit of kit, any info on the website is pretty open about exactly which models it covers, if anyone has any info please drop me a line.
Yeah I had one ... good piece of kit for a generic tune I dyno’d all the maps to check the fuelling was safe on UK fuel , as from memory I was the first in the UK to have one . Posts will still be on a Diavelforum I swapped it out for Tuneboy as the QS from OpenFlash never materialised ... Shiv is the guy at OF and can be a bit hit and miss on email replies All in all , I’d say go for a Tuneboy , get the QS , cruise and Launch Control and get it mapped - great bit of kit
Many thanks for that, looked at the Tuneboy option as well, a company a couple of miles away deals fits it, visited them just after I bought the bike, like the quickshifter/blipper option as well. The reason I would like the open flash is the flexibility of it, such as the ability to reload the original maps, reset service lights and download updated maps without going to a third party. Looking at the Diavel forum/open flash there hasn't been a post from Shiv for some time.
Re flexibility , you can do all the stuff you mention with the Tuneboy too ... at home , no 3rd party needed if you have some skills and a laptop You’re not going to get updated maps with OF .. and once you get your bike mapped with your mods you don’t need to do it again (unless you change something ) There’s also large number of trim files out there for Tuneboy , so you can try those for a generic tune if preferred - people who paid for a dyno tune , like myself , tend to share - so if you have a gen1 with k&n and Remus let me know and I’ll hook you up
Unfortunately I've a gen2, but many thanks for the offer. I just intend to fit filter, pipe and possibly either delete or remove the flapper valve, tbh I can't really see me doing more than this, just getting some smoothness at the bottom end is more important than another 10-15 hp.
The Tuneboy flash includes deletion of the ex valve too seriously it is the better option , upgradeable if you just want the basics to start and cheaper too I think I sold my Diavel with it all fitted , just bought a license for my multi and off I went OF hasn’t changed in 4years ... and doesn’t look like Shiv has any plans too . So unless you’re picking one up used for cheap, it’s not the sensible option
You mentioned picking up one cheap, (sorry it's the Yorkshire in me) I seem to remember reading that it marries to the Ecu and can only be used for service functions on another bike? Finally got an email back from OF saying it's an identical unit for gen1 & 2? How does that work as I thought that it contained 4 ready made tested maps for a specific model - or am I missing something? Once again thanks for the info, much appreciated, have to ask, what happened to your OF tablet?
When you purchase the OFT and load the supplied maps it flashes the ECU and then you can’t use it to flash another bike - once you flash the stock map back to the bike, you basically unlock the device meaning you can then use it on another Diavel . It does require a new file to be sent to OFt to create new files locked to and based on the new bikes ECU ... I sold mine to a UK based guy on the Diavel Forum I then picked up the Tuneboy used , with ECU , connection kit cruise and QS for less than I sold the OFt - so bargains are out there With Tuneboy , you can just buy the license you need , pick up used or borrow connectivity HW and flash the bike for cheap if you can work a laptop and Windows
Re the connectivity hardware, I already have elm327 to the Ducati data connector which I used with JP Diag - fairly sure it wouldnt support write commands though?
You can flash with the elm327, but not the Tuneboy SW that I’m aware of at least You need the WB-01 and you can download the Tuneboy SW from their website - I’m open to loaning my kit if you go that route - or X-bikes aren’t too far from you , they could sell you the license and flash it for you . Worth a call maybe
I visited x bikes a couple of weeks after I bought the bike, they are only about 3 miles away, must have been 3 years ago, I quite like getting my hands dirty and owning my own kit (if that makes sense) so would use them for the rolling road tune but would quite like the ability to make my own tweaks, unless you suggest otherwise? Many thanks for the loan option!
