Hi campers, I really should know this, but don't... I've got a 1098R with the GPS lap timer system fitted. I can't find any info with it and don't know how to trigger the bleedin thing. Does anyone else have this system? And if so, how do you work it? Any input much appreciated. Cheers, Paul.
Headlight flash is the trigger Look in your owners manual USB Data Aquisition (DAQ) This function activates the USB DAQ (see page 66): the DAQ must be connected to the motorcycle wiring. To activate the DAQ, enter the menu and set the USB DAQ to “On” by pressing the switch (1, fig. 8) in position B “▼“ for 3 seconds. START and STOP the lap separator by pressing the high beam (for non-gps) flasher switch (12, fig. 5) on the left-hand handlebar switch. If the USB function is active and the display is suddenly switched off (Key-Off), the function is switched off automatically.
it depends on the system, but more or less system that integrates dashborad lap timing function work like pressing the high beam button for you. All system I knew about have a button to set the finish line on the track and a led that tells you if gps is fixed. To start just lap (with no usb dda on) , go into the menu and set the “LAP” function to “On” by pressing the switch (1, fig. 8) in position B “▼“ for 3 seconds. Once you set the finish line on gps as stated above it will takes lap time for you
A bit more info After turning on the ignition, you must go into the menu and select the DDA option and turn it on in order to have it start recording. It will record laps automatically at that point as long as you've set the GPS position of the start/finish line using the "Flash To Pass" button on your left-hand switch housing the first time you're at a different track. Note that the DDA is automatically disabled again when you turn the ignition off, so if you want to record every track session you must turn it back on every time you turn the ignition on. The lap timer function, however, is automatically activated every time so there is no need to manually turn it on. It will only record a certain number of laps in the memory though, so if you want to review a "clean" track session you must clear the lap timer memory before going out onto the track using the menu's LAP option, and then "Erase All".
