Best options for getting shot of flat spot around 4-5k revs? End can Map Full system Just suck it up? Ta
Yip the exhaust flap Is there to strangle noise to pass eu requirements, it also strangles the engine too! Healtech do an eliminator thing to stop the engine management light coming on when the valve is removed
Is it a do at home job or professional? What needs drilled out?...........I'm crap at this stuff?? Would a decat pipe like a MIVV do the job?
as the exhaust flap normally rests in the open position am i correct to assume i can just fit the healtech ESE and the flap will remain forever open?
Crazy isn't it, you buy a market leading piece of fine engineering and have to take a drill to it to eliminate a flat spot. As with the pretty useless screen, you'd have thought the manufacturers would have sorted these problems out by now.
I think the healtech lets the engine management system believe the valve has been closed as instructed, even though it remains open at all times
So if you go the healtech route do you still need to drill stuff out? Will the valve stay open all the time
By all accounts it stays open all the time. If I get a chance at work tomorrow I’ll put a borescope up the exhaust.
Yes it stays open all the time, the healtech and the drilling achieve exactly the same, the valve is out of the way. Drilling out the 2 screws is just a bit cheaper and arguably quicker to do. These guys can tell you how to fit the healtech as I went the drilling route.
Been on for 3 hours, 3 drill bits done in, dremel, brute force and nowt!?!?!? Flap still in place. Just going to leave the bloody thing and but something to plug in!
i took the easy way out and ordered the healtech ese, at least i can return the bike to standard when i sell it
It won't fuck anything up drilling it out and yes, the above saying you can return to stock is indeed a valid point, but who would ever want the valve back working again? Hence, I had no hesitation. Your shout though.
