Goddag Does anybody have any fariing mount brackets for a 600/750/900ss from 91-98 kicking about? Not sure if it's supposed to be two or four but going from half faired to full faired but can't find any online or on ebay. I'll be willing to pay in M&Ms or for you hip types, stirling.
You will need the two black tubes + wellnuts that are bolted to the frame either side 'near the carbs', plus the two bars with rubber ends that bolt into the horizontal cylinder which keep the bottoms of the fairing stable...........(a tip: cut two discs 75mm diameter in say, 1.5mm stainless or 2mm ally and Araldite them inside the fairing where those bars push against the fairing). AL.
Cheers AL. Pablo it appears that I need all of these that Al pointed out. Have you got the other two? If not I'll still take what you have
When Paul563 finally gets the broken engine bar out of his SS and uses a replacement I found for him, I should have one spare which would be the left side one (each side is different)..... AL.
Apologies for the intrusion, but the rubber is missing off the bottom right bar on my bike. It's beginning to wear on the fairing, so I'd better replace it..
See my tip above.....that stops the hole from appearing in the fairing.... For the rubber, find an old bit of garden hose (a rubber one, of course......) cut it to length to include the thickness of the hose, then get a bit of 15mm pipe and cut another short length of hose and also split down the length; fold it out and use the pipe and a hammer to cut out a circular plug....then stick the whole lot onto the bar, with the plug in the open end of the other bit of hose.... AL.
Thanks but I'm both gardenless and pipe-less! Probably easier beg, borrowing or just buying a new rubber bung! Up at Rosso Corse in the next couple of days to buy a few bits, so will ask then. Cheers, Humbug
Hi, Please help from being an idiot; I've finally put on the fairings and they're looking nice (well, the one that I painted looks pants). Top brackets went on fine but the lower brackets don't seem to fit anywhere. I know that they're suppose to fit on the front cylinder near enough parallel to the top brackets, but my the threads are totally different. Have I got the wrong lower brackets? I see that on one of the brackets the thread actually comes out but the other one is stuck. What am I doing wrong?
They should fit just forward of where the oil cooler pipes come out of the crankcase......but interesting.....I wonder if there are two different thread sizes for these struts.... Paul563 definitely has larger diameter struts than my bike and that could well mean that the struts I got him are wrong in the thread area......His bike is older than mine....so what are the thread sizes of the struts you have and what are the holes in the head diameters? Taking a guess I think we are looking at M8 and M10 threads if there are two sizes.......Mine are M8. Probably easily resolved whatever yours are...... AL
I'm gonna go with M10 for the struts e.g. Fairing / Engine Mounting Posts Stays Ducati 750SS/900SS/900SS/1000DS Supersport | eBay and M8 for the engine. So I need Paul's and he needs mine....?
Those ones on ebay look like Paul's thicker versions so it seems he needs the same as you do........and I'll have the 8mm ones I got him back as spares!! You can definitely tell the 8mm ones because they are waisted...see pic..... AL
Ok Here is a pic of the 2 mounts that AL gave me to replace the broken one on my bike. The two on the right are the replacements and the one on the left is the origional diffrent lengths and shapes They all have the same thread size as can be seen on the pic below. It would seem the broken one is made of chewing gum quality alloy but the one on the right is of a far superior metal. Once i can drill out the thread and replace this all will be well in the world, (for me at least!)
OK....so the threads are the same..........or are they? So what has Yets got in the way of bars and the head threads? AL
Haven't you drilled that bl**dy thing out yet? Gordon Bennet................after all the trouble (and cost) I went to of getting them as well..... I suppose I know who will end up doing it....... AL
