Today I carried on digitizing DVD's to put on a new NAS I have ordered. I should be able to play the films on the TV, on all laptops in the house and streamed remotely. It is taking ages to rip them all and, stupidly, I brought a random job lot of 200 DVD's from fleabay earlier in the week. They were advertised by a hospice so my reasoning was that even if they were no good, I would have made a donation. They arrived today - 2 large boxes - and I think that 160 of them are worth watching. At this rate I will still be ripping them at Christmas. The NAS arrives tomorrow (Qnap 453B with 4 x 3 TB drives) so I will have something to mess about with for the next few evenings.
4 hrs doing a Cyber Security course, with 46 to go.... Amazing what is out there, having a more layman (need to know info only) view to now having a more in-depth, heading to expert view (well, maybe not yet ) One of the great things about doing what I do, is finding a gap in knowledge or market resources, going off and learning new stuff, then getting the practice in to use it Life is too short to stop learning
I find learning new stuff pushes the old stuff out. Acknowledgement to Homer Simpson who said it first. Andy
I brought a programme online called Winxdvd. It is free download and try - but the free version only rips about 5 minutes. Muggings me brought it at the full price but, after I paid and went to go off the site, it offered me a discount . It seems to work fine. I have digitized about 100GB so far which equates to 150 films and TV box sets. There have been 2 DVD's that haven't worked and a Bluray I tried didn't work either - I am not sure if that is because I am running on a standard laptop and the drive isn't Bluray compatible. I have one laptop just burning and saving and not being used for anything else. Only another 300'ish DVD's to go.............................before I bid on another, mammoth, DVD bundle on fleabay . I don't know what I am going to do with the piles of DVD's when they are on a harddrive. Maybe if other people here are doing the same we could get some kind of round robin swap going?
Loaded the bike ready for the off tae bonny Scotland at sparrow's fart in the morning. And I know what you're thinking @Wayne58 before you start.. But in that luggage there's hiking boots, coat and waterproof trousers/full walking gear plus camping gear and even cleaning stuff for the bike. Clothes and shoes are all in the tail pack. Did have a slightly nasty moment when it wouldn't start just now. Turned out I hadn't reconnected the fuel line properly when I took the tank off to change the pre-filters on the intakes. Phew..
