If anyone is struggling to remove their rear wheel nut, I have just purchased one of these impact drivers off fleabay, can't vouch for how long it will last but I have been informed that it is the same model as that being sold under a different brand name by machine mart. I did soak over night with WD40 before trying it but it worked a treat & removed the nut with ease. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Impact-Wrench-1-2-Drive-and-4-Sockets-450NM-TORQUE-1010W-Heavy-Duty/322037456704?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160727114228&meid=7dfdb24d910a434caf048f3e44f80a6b&pid=100290&rk=1&rkt=4&mehot=pp&sd=322037456704&itm=322037456704&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507
If anyone is around the Heathrow area we can help undo the wheel nut.... 6' bar and loads of experience.... Feltham tyres are just down the road, so you slowly ride or walk your bike down to get the tyre fitted. Price a Guinness token..... REAL ones, not like @Loz 's vaporware ones (that still haven;t arrived).
Looks like a copy of a Clarke CEW1000. £63.40 direct from Clarke https://www.clarketools.net/clarke-...MIv_PF4pSh2wIVCJ3tCh2l1gKSEAQYASABEgKpEPD_BwE
I bought one from MachineMart a couple of years ago. 450Nm. Does the job nicely for both the multi and the panigale (320Nm I believe!) https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-cew1000-electric-impact-wrench/ If anybody is in the Glasgow area, I can probably help out!
I got mine off by hand !! Obviously not literally! Got a puncture last week, my usual dealer couldn't fit me in for a ride in/out tyre so I finally bought the £60 odd quid good quality socket - which is actually very good quality. Spent 5 minutes heating up the nut with a hot air gun, a mate to stand on the rear brake pedal and using a long 1/2 inch bar and 2 long socket extensions to get a good long lever (probably about a metre overall) it came off with a (very) strong, but careful pull. Was easier than I had expected! I was all set to spend another £60-£70 quid on an impact wrench that would only ever get used for this occasional job if my first attempt didn't work!!!
I found the sprocket side was ok with breaker bar, but wheel side ended up with sheared 1/2” knuckle on 3’ breaker...after i stood on it for a bit. Clarke CEW1000 (thanks @Wayne58 for the tip), nut was off in 4 secs. Worth every penny and now “it’s in the family”. Anyone in Brum/West Mids needs a hand drop me a line.
Thanks and no problem mate, I did mention the Clarke to you, but my recommendation would be the Dewalt 899. Now thats an impact wrench !! Likewise, if anyone in the South needs a nut spinning off, I've got one if ya need assistance
Nothing so far - had 4x 55mm Ducati rear wheel nuts off and a wheel of me mrs Honda just because I could. Right tool makes the job easy pal
You did indeed sorry and I should have mentioned...the Dewalt too steep for me. new tires + busted hand guard * body work damage = v poor.
Just one of those weeks chief - front tyre was way way past wear limits so changed both, and duly dropped bike off jack removing front....but got away unscathed...!! Then karma caught up with me in the week, had something else on mind putting bike back on sidestand, and you already know the rest - it wasn’t there. Hand guard totalled, indicator blade is f’d but will be ok for a while, mirror body all scratched to bits but still roadworthy, clutch lever f’d but still working, but tank fairing is the wounder. Fortunately/bright side - all cases ok!! Shit happens
I use the dewalt every day at work. Much better than my old snap on and 1/3 of the price. £257 inc vat delivered
Machined the chamfer off the inside of my socket this morning so it contacts the flats on the nut better.
