1200 DVT Clutch Switch Location, What Needs Removing?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Noble Ron, Jun 7, 2018.

  1. I'm looking to replace my clutch pump but need to locate the clutch switch that is attached to the bike so I can remove and reconnect the connections. Its the dark green 5 one on the diagrams

What parts of the fairing need removing? Does the tank need to come off? Can I remove the switch from the new clutch and attached the old one on the clutch pump? It looks like the left panels (looking forward on the bike) need to come off? Has anybody done this and have any tips?

  2. Doesn’t it disconnect at the MC end too?

  3. I feels pretty solidly attached but didn’t want to force it for the fear of breaking it

  4. You might get away with removing just the panel around the fuses that covers all the wires heading that way.. then trace the wire and see if you can get to the connector
If not then remove the left side fairing panel and see if you can get your hand in under the tank .. failing that it’s tank off but you’ll be well on the way by then

  5. I’ve located it you can get your hand down the left hand side space where the forks move around. Just need to get the connectors off and on again.

  6. It was actually a really easy job, you can get your hand down into the forks area on the left and using a head torch feel your way following the wire down. Then release the connector holding the plug and play parts with your nail, and back on again. The bleeding part was fun, I have invested in a vacuum pump from Amazon as I didn't have the kit to do this 100%.

  10. Ha ok, thats good I thought I was missing nipple. I've pretty much bled every nipple but will redo it all one I have kit, I'm thinking of upgrading to the Oberon clutch slave now I know how simple this whole maintenance is.
