1200 Chain And Sprocket Advice

  1. DID ZVMX chain and Afam sprockets are both top quality.
£208 plus£15 postage is OK, but I got the same kit for £120 from M&P, though that was a bit of a fire sale as they'd over ordered. Keep searching and you might get lucky, if nothing cheaper around them your not being ripped off.

  2. Thanks for reply , is that M&P in Swansea ?
Sounds like you got a cracking deal

  3. Absolutely agree that the 42T rear sprocket really suits the bike and makes 6th gear much more usable. That looks like a good deal.
The chain should be 108 links in case you find a better deal buying chain and sprockets separately. There are some really good posts on chain and sprockets from a couple of years ago if you do a search.

  4. Any downside with mine having 110 fitted?

  5. Thanks for all advice :upyeah:

  6. I seem to remember quite a few are disappointed with the original chain and sprocket set put on by the factory. The suggestions above are worthy replacements

  7. No problem with chain at 18k but I think our weather conditions are better. I don't ride when there is salt on the road.

  8. It was M&P from Swansea but from their eBay department. Their regular online site had the set for something over £200 and they explained to me their eBay side is a separate part of the business with no crossover.

  10. You have a larger rear sprocket fitted?

  11. More weight  No, It clearly fits fine, just mentioned it in case anyone had seen 108 link chains for sale.

  12. If I change the rear sprocket to a 42, do I need to change the chain at the same time?

  13. No. But it will shorten the wheelbase a little. Makes the bike a little bit taller (imperceptible IMO).

  14. How much will removing 2 links from a chain use up in adjustment travel? I ask because I re-geared a while back to 14/42 and removed a couple links from the 114 standard length new chain, installed and adjusted to almost the maximum longest length-no more adjustment left. Stock length chain being 110 links I believe with 15/40 gearing. Just removed another 2 links from chain and with rear wheel adjusted full forward cannot get chain on. Ugh!! Checked it before breaking chain and it seemed there was enough slack to connect but after removing the 2 links it's too short.

I can't believe the adjustment will move from full long to full short(or less) by removing 2 links. Maybe the adjustment has schmegg built up in it and it's limiting travel.

  15. I've bought a new chain and sprocket set from Carpimoto. The fitter said I would need a sprocket carrier in order to fit a non-standard (ie not Ducati) rear sprocket. Did you have to do this too or does the sprocket supplied as part of the kit fit as a straight replacement for the OEM rear socket? Cheers.

  16. My front sprocket was pretty nasty as it turns out o_O
    Well due a change.
    Rear wasn’t too bad.
I went with order from eBay.
Also found 2 Cush rubbers starting to crack, so replaced them ,and also the front sprocket O ring. So hopefully that’s me for some time now :upyeah:
