My ms 1200s dvt is due it's service at 2 years and 9600 miles. The date service message is on. I noticed today that the engine light is on all the time also what looks like a battery symbol next to the service message. I wondered of it is normal for the engine light to come on when a service is due. If not, what does the battery symbol mean. The bike is running perfectly.
Service light comes on only in normal operation, it’s coincidental that you have other warnings, you need to get them checked out
The chance would be a fine thing, I'm booked in to Ducati Leeds, 5 weeks wait because they are busy. Bike runs perfectly. 5 weeks of being pissed off once again due to fragile bikes. They call these adventure bikes, as long as you don't stray too far from a main dealer and prepared not to ride it for 5 weeks. Next bike Ktm Adventure 640 with carburettor?
If its running fine, why stop using it? Can you take a picture of the screen with the icon on, as there are some that look MIL but aren't.
Have a look in the manual about the symbol. It could be telling you the battery in the key is low. Aside from that, find someone local who has an OBD tool that can check the fault codes.
Is there any more info on a diy service message / error code reset, please? Can it be done via a OBD Device or similar? Ive got a 1200 mts dvt 2015. Service message showing. 100 mile round trip to my local dealer to turn it off and ££. Thanks folks!
I had a service by a local specialist G-Tec, more than happy with their work but they couldn’t turn the indicator off. Ducati wouldn’t turn it off as they didn’t do the service. I just left it until the next service and got it done at Ducati.
My dealer turned off the service light and was only able to reset it out one year. I wanted to go another 18k since I do my own oil changes but no luck. They did with a PC hooked to ecu port. Rode for several months with service indicator on, no other lights showing.
I'd just had my big Desmo service done in October, bike hardly used since and then the annual service light came on in March. I just called them, dropped in and the re-set it. (The radiator/battery symbol next to the service light shows it's an annual service - Thanks to Steveb123 for telling me)
Maybe you need to change the date before the light comes on. I assume once the service light is on some bit in memory is set that needs to be cleared by being plugged in.
as said, i mentioned a year but in reality it needs to be a date prior to the last time the service light was cleared. So try 2 years?
The light comes on after 1 year or 15k km, whatever comes first. So changing the date won't help if it has been more than 15k km since last service.
