Hi Will Be Asking For Help

  1. Other than the red... a horribly slow colour and useless for harvesting small black insects.

  2. Thanks for all the info, it is biposto, but I dont think the missus would let me change it to a mono, I have bought a spare set of forks and a spare shock, which I was going to send away to get refurbed. Why a new rad, can I not just flush and repaint my current one ?

  3. Welcome Dave

  4. By all means, depends on the core but if it's just flaky paint then that 100% makes sense. :)

Keep your eye out for a 999s set of Ohlins if you like the shiny, otherwise the TiNitride Showa forks and Sachs shock are pretty decent. :)

    My old 749s with Ohlins...

  5. Nice bike, I have managed to bag a pair of the TiNitride Showa forks, which will be going off for a rebuild.

  6. Replacing the throttle tube withone for a Yamaha R1 is a common and cheap mod that makes the bike nicer to ride. It gives a slightly quicker action and eliminates the free play in the standard system that makes the bike snatchy to ride at slow speed.
If your missus is anything less than an Olympic gymnast, I suspect she won't worry too much about you going mono.
I know I wouldn't want to perch up there...
Aftermarket levers are a big improvement.
I have cheap Chinese Pazzo copies and they are soooo much better than the Brembo originals both in form and function. I made a mistake in ordering and received the longer versions but my disappointment was short lived, they are just right.
Lots of folk on here love the rattle of a Ducati dry clutch and hear it as music.
I don't and have carried out the simple modification known as the quiet clutch mod which has the added bonus of making the plates and basket last much longer.
    Progrip grips are nice.
Racebolt do lovely polished stainless and titanium fasteners to replace your soft and tarnished originals or you can get cheaper ones from Stig fasteners and others and polish them yourself.
Mirrors are a pain. Lots of people just do the funky chicken and stick their elbows out to see behind. I have added a neat little Oberon Street fighter bar end mirror on the right side that makes all the difference and fills in the blind spot immediately behind.
If you want to run an open clutch with stainless springs and bolts with anodised caps, I can recommend Avanti Racing ones as giving a suitable spring rate. The owner, @antonye is on here.
Check your semi-floating discs are still floating as the bobbins seize over time.
I like the bobbins to make an audible click as I move them with thumb and finger.
If they are seized, you can put a nut and bolt through the middle and spin them up with a drill, while spraying with Cillit Bang, which will clean without damaging paint or contaminating brakes. You will need lots of kitchen towel or similar to mop up the copious amounts of muck that will emerge.
When you take the fairings off, treat the rubber grommets that the metal spigots at the front of the fairing push into to some vaseline or grease, this will make refitting and removing much easier.
Do the same for the grommets the dash mounts on.
    That'll do for now.

  9. In case anyone out there is interested, here is a short video of our camper vansformation, which kept the Ducati languishing in the garage.

  10. That’s nice and a blue bin too :)
