Hi guys, took delivery of my 748S today, the bike rides a traet but I've noticed the temp gauge isn't working at all..... any ideas? Thanks. Jay.
this is controversial but avoiding constantly fluctuating temp and avoiding freezing or 26 deg C plus/direct sunlight is probably your best chance. I came out to find mine cracked with several short stress cracks after a cold night during summer around 10 years ago so unit wasn't that old. The plastic used is pretty volatile and seems to only need the slightest excuse to fracture, vibration might do it, spilt brake fluid/other fluids might do it.
I lodged in Woking for 2.5 years many years ago and can confirm (with no doubt) that the 748S temp gauge is not Woking
I had the same on my 996. Put the wire from the sender straight to earth. If the temp goes up then the guage is ok. If this happens its sender related so first try cleaning the threads and all contact faces. This sorted mine. After i paid £50 for a new sender
Take the wire off the sender and put to earth. This will tell u if its a guage or sender problem. With ignition on of course.
Welcome Paul, introduce yourself in the new members section and pop a picture of the 996 with a bin in the picture. Steve
