If memory serves - I believe that I read in the story of the making of the Le Mans movie that Steve McQueen bought a Monaco for everyone on the crew... Wore mine at Le Mans last weekend... https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/gallery/photos/wp-000097.2402/
Nice Monaco. Don't start me off on Heuers. I have one or two. Had a bit of a thin out to buy some bits recently but still gave a few rare ones
I ain’t no Jack Flash with wads of £ash... I’m well sorted with Micky on my wrist even though he’s a knock off.. That’s “knock off” as in half inched, pinched... and not.. “ I knock one off with Micky n my wrist! “ X
Hi. Being a bit of a watch buff myself having had loads of different makes and models over the years, I have settled down with the Tudor brand and in particular the Pelagos LHD Divers Watch. As with its sister company Rolex, quality is right up there with the very best and with its own in-house movement, amazing auto adjustable strap along with super bright lume and helium escape valve to name but a few of the features. The main thing I love about this watch is that I never see anyone else with a Tudor on let alone this limited numbered edition. A pet hate of mine is having a watch that cost a pretty packet then see dozens of other people wearing the exact same model on a night out.
I had a funny text conversation at the weekend regarding Omega watches. One of my "brighter" colleagues text me to ask a question about watches as I'm also partial to an Omega or two. Mate - I have found the Helium valve open on my Seamaster and never knew, will the watch be ok ?? Me - Yes mate, it's just a one way valve to let out high pressure gas when you have been deep sea diving, which I don't believe applies to you. Mate - Yeah but do I have to take it back to Goldsmiths to have the Helium recharged if I've let it all out Me - Are you shitting me dude ?? Me - Yes Roland, take it back to Goldsmiths immediately and ask for a full Helium recharge Followed by silence.......
just been to Leica factory and coincidentally they just launched 2x models of watches same day. so i checked them out whils there. looks very nice indeed!
Great thread, I love an Omega, just the right mix of quality and taste - in my humble.... It begs another question for me; to autowind or not? I use the modular Boxy system http://www.watchwinder.com.tw/ for my automatics. If one breaks I can just replace it rather than have a unit that only winds an odd number.
