1299 Suspension Set Up Recommendation - South East

  1. hi
I just had my 1299 on track and found the front Suspension at least to be not working as it should.

A while back I had K Tech IDS fork inserts and a DDS Lite shock installed.

Having checked my receipts, the springs which were fitted to the forks are 10Nm. Seems a bit heavy given I weigh 75kg, so
Maybe 85kg with my gear on. But maybe that’s correct. Either way, my fork travel indicator only moved halfway down the fork even though I was braking hard enough for the ABS to cut in aggressively. The track was dry and the electronics were in race mode. I just didn’t have the confidence on corner entry and mild roll on mid corner felt like the bike was under steering. It’s handling nothing like my 749R and this needs to change!

So I would like to take it to a specialist in the London/south east that knows Panigale Suspension set up inside out. Preferably, one close to the Heathrow side of London

So I would appreciate any recommendations and feedback you may have

  2. Sounds a bit heavy. At 110kg mine was 10.5 spring, but could be different type of forks mean different spec? But you said you were barely using travel so suggest way over... could explain running wide too, if fork isn’t compressed enough and is ‘pinging’ back.

Steve Jordan done any? Not sure how different the front is from a 899/959?

  3. Measure the front sag yourself (with the help of a friend). If you can’t adjust the preload to get it in the required range then different springs are required. Did you specify your weight when you ordered the cartridges?

  4. Hi
I didn’t give a value but I gave them my weight with gear on. They asked me for the info

  5. If you want to check that the forks can be made to get some movement then back everything off pre load, compression damping and rebound damping, at least you will then know the forks will move and that a decent set up can be found. If they still don't move then ask questions about the air gap used, too little air gap will stop them moving and feel like bottoming out.
