1200 Enduro Squeal From Back Brake

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Trickyricky, Jun 30, 2018.

  1. my enduro has developed a low speed squeal when I apply the rear brake. It’s has gradually got worse to the point where it’s now annoying. Bike still in warranty and has done less than 5k. Should I just change the pads ? Or get it checked out ??

  2. I'd just make sure there's still some material left on the pads. If that's good you sometimes get a hard lump of material in the pad which squeals till it's worn away. If they are getting low anyway could just replace them.

  3. take the pads out, clean the caliper and pads, and most importantly put a chamfer on the front (leading edge) of the pad material of both pads with a file.
    That should cure it.

  4. Also add a smear of copper slip to the rear of the pads.

  5. No need to take then out for inspection you can easily see how much is left by looking at them close up.

My rears lasted 12,000 miles and yes the oem brembo pads did squeak at low speeds.

I replaced them with EBC sintered a little less bite but super quiet and they have 20,000 miles on them and still look new.

  6. Rear brake?? What’s that? :)

  7. A working ducati back brake is like an audi or bmw fitted with indicators.
