Couldn't help but feel that Tarrantino had been writing the news today! BBC News - Missing property tycoon found lost, ragged and scarred BBC News - Aamir Siddiqi: Hitmen Jason Richards and Ben Hope guilty It's a sick world!
Classic ... "They went to the local garda station and they got him tea and biscuits. He gobbled up the biscuits as he was ravenous so they got him some curry chips."
'Sinn Féin Councillor Martin Kenny from Ballinamore, who knows the couple who found the man...' Oh, yeah..?
I don't know what's worse, pandering to things like halal meat in prison, or the fact something as abhorrent as halal meat legal in the developed world to begin with......
Let us suppose, just for amusement, that there was a small religious sect in the UK that said "Our medieval holy book, the word of God, says that before killing an animal, we have to gouge out its eyes." Would that be considered acceptable in the UK? I think not. Suppose that it wasn't a small sect, but a large religious grouping, would that be considered acceptable? I still think not. So where do you draw the line? If you look at Hitchens' many Youtube debates (great fun and highly recommended) it becomes quite obvious, if it wasn't already, that there is no difference between the beliefs of a small religious sect and a large religious community. Therefore, there is no point in pandering to one rather than the other. Ergo, you may as well ban Halal butchery in the UK. Would fox-hunting have been banned if it had been part of the customs of the Muslim community? Discuss. [I may say here that I have nothing against Muslims per se, even if, like Christians, I think they are totally deluded.]
In prison the choice should be take what is given or starve. Unless the food will kill you, eg allergy to nuts, your choice can always be veg and potato
Agree. You forego your human rights when you do something heinous enough to end up in prison. Except......there are people in prison for speeding. What a twisted world we live in:frown:
The most likely problem is that not many people in the UK know what the Halal process is, and are ever likely to know or bother finding out.
