New key battery but still low key battery indicating " Annoying "

  1. If I knew what to do it wouldn't be a problem.

  2. Somebody help me please?

  3. Back in the early days there were problems with the hands free sensor and this was replaced FOC, the other cause can be your mobile phone make sure that phone and key fob are not in close proximity to each other, check voltage of new battery, just because it comes in a sealed packet don't mean its any good.

  4. +1 on that

  5. +1 on that.

Also ensure polarity of battery, and that the battery is making good contact, you might need to bend the 'contact tags' a tiny bit to ensure they are pressing as hard as possible against the battery.

  6. I've done the bending of the contacts even cleaning them, cellphone is far from it. What is FOC, FOB please? I'm using the passive key right now to avoid the annoying low battery key display that bars the display of vital settings. Has anyone replaced a battery and still had gotten this low battery key display? If so what loved it? By the way thanks guy you've helped me alot I'm in an island in the middle of the Philippines and I have to be resourceful because the dealer is very far away.

  7. FOC= Free of charge. FOB= the thing that you 'hang ' your key on.
You don't mention what bike you are referring to?

  8. I have a 2010 Mts 1200s Sport

  9. + 2 on that,

I had the same issue, two brand new "own brand" batteries from Maplins both gave low key battery warnings after a couple of days. Solution was to buy a Duracell battery from Tescos - still good after a few months

not all batteries are created equal !

  10. Yup shit battery, also make sure you have the 'right' battery the little flat disk ones differ sometimes.

  11. As they saw you only get what you pay for

  12. I'll do that ASAP batteries are just like people they're not all the same ha ha.

  13. I keep two small Allen's in the fob will that affect th battery?

  14. That would depend on what an "Allen" is?

To be serious, if the hands free can sense the key (indicated by the battery low warning) it would indicate that the sensor is working and that the key is not outputting at a high enough level, this would come back to duff battery. Put a DVM (digital volt meter) on it and see what it indicates under load.

  15. This is very true, worth buying a known brand name and buy off the shelf rather than online, quality makes have an expiry date on the packaging somewhere.....these tiny capacity batteries have a fairly short shelf life. For the record:
3 Volt CR 2032 lithium ion battery

  16. I used Hitachi Maxel CR2032 as i thought they should be ok , Use by date of 12-2015 and still get a low batt warning , will try the duracell option!

  17. I had the same problem with something else that used a similar 'button' battery.......it seems that some applications/electronics are really sensitive.
Just in case.......there is a BR2032 which has the same dimensions but a slightly lower nominal voltage and capacity, which would produce the error if used (if it worked at all)

  18. I just put in an energizer the low battery display is gone so far so good. Now the key I in my night table but so is my iPhone??? If I leave the key in th bike will it drain? If in my night table near my iPhone what happens next? Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!!

  19. Nah should be fine. On the bike however I found any phone with bluetooth turned on would interfere with the key-less start. Moving phone to my backpack cured all that.

I also found the batteries don't last at all... When you buy a battery from a shop, find one with the longest expiry date - it has a chance of lasting more than about 20 seconds that way.

  20. Mobile and remote key must be using same/similar frequency this can cause the key signal to swamped by the phone signal, proximity of either away from the bike should not be an issue. Leaving the key in bike would mean any body could re-leave you of your pride and joy. as to battery life mine is coming up to a year since it was last replaced (that last sentence now means i will have to use the spare) and the bike is used 4-5 days a week in all weathers (apart from ice).
