1260 New Corbin Seat

  1. Got myself a Corbin seat today. It's a bit bulky, a bit blingy (if that's a word?) and slightly cruiser looking, but it is soooo comfortable:D May not be to everyone's taste, I'm not 100 per cent sure it's to mine, but I had one on a previous bike and it was by far the most comfortable seat I've ever had......until now! Actually the more I look at it the more I like it.

By the way Corbin don't technically do a seat for the 1260 yet, this is their 1200 one. Obviously it fits though.

  5. Looks very sculptured. Is the rear seat removable?
I have a fibreglass tail unit on mine which is good for storage, not for pillion obvs!

  6. No it's one piece, but due to the shape of the base I think you can get a little bit more stored under the rear end.
It's very well shaped and puts you in a very neutral and comfortable position. They are very firm, yet still comfortable, they also slowly break in, a bit like the bike:) Also I find that where I could pretty well flat foot with the OEM seat, with this one my heels are about an inch from the floor

  7. Did you have OEM seat in low or high position? AFAIK, Corbin does not have height adjustment, so your statement regarding 1" higher is in compare to which stock seat position?

  8. I had the OEM seat in the low position.

  9. Thanks. It's really hard to say from the picture whether Corbin is actually 1" higher than OEM or it just feels higher, because it's a bit wider.
I mean, a wider seat will make it harder to reach the ground, but it won't change the distance to the pegs. So, what do you think, is Corbin actually higher, or it just a little wider than OEM?

  10. I can confirm that the 1200 Corbin seat fits on the 1260, I just put one on my bike.

The seat is not only much higher than the stock seat, it is also wider. Yes, it is definitely higher than the stock seat, I'd say by 2" to 3". I went from touching flat footed in Urban, seat in low mode; to barely touching with my tiptoes in Urban.

You can also tell by looking at the bike on the sidestand from the side, it is much taller, because it doesn't swoop downwards at all.

It's too tall for me; I am going to try to make it California in September to have it custom shaped because the foam is so hard (which I like) that I don't see the need for 4" of it.

  11. I can't entirely agree with suruppak. I only went from flat footing in Touring to, as said - heels an inch or so off the ground. I find it's more the extra width spreading your legs than extra height. Corbin quote the seat height at 33.5 inches, against the 1260 at 33.2 inches on the high setting.

  12. Maybe you have really long feet! :joy:

  13. No it's not that. I have no air in my tyres;)

  14. I was previously running my seat in low. Here are photos for comparison if someone finds it helpful. You can see the height difference comparing to the shelves in the background, or the green lines I drew. I'm also not sure I like how much downward slope the passenger seat has.

  16.

  17. Seems to me if you find it too tall, too wide, and it slopes to much at the rear, maybe you would be better off with the original seat:thinkingface:;)

  18. Only the passenger portion slopes too much, the rider portion isn't sloped at all, which is perfect. If the original seat didn't shove me into the gas tank so hard, I'd keep it.

I plan to see if Corbin can lower the height and narrow it up in front a little in September. If I was 6 foot tall, it would be great, but alas I am not.

My desire is pretty simple I think, I want a hard seat that is flat (no slope), and I can reach the ground. This meets the first two criteria.

  19. Made me think of the lovely Fenella Fielding in Carry On Screaming. Not that there is any diamond stitching in the film but it must be the red paintwork and plush upholstery .

  20. I agree with all that. It is a very comfortable seat (albeit it a little tall) and that's what it's all about for me too:upyeah:
