Hello ladies and gent, Recently attempted to start my bike and was a little rough but managed to get her home. The next day it would not start what so ever so I replaced the battery and all I seem to get is 1 click from the solenoid. I checked my fuzes, kill switch, and neutral. So far I started to check my pos/neg points to the bike and no sign of corrosion. NEED HELP! Thank you!
Battery/connections and earth is what I would have looked at too. Need to check if power is getting from the solenoid to the starter motor next imho.
I wondered about that but how would it relate to only getting a click from the solenoid with a new battery?
is it siezed. has it dropped a valve and locked up.The solenoid would click if the starter was trying to turn a siezed motor. Whatt do you mean it was a little rough?
More info. It started a little rough as in it would sorta bog out and hesitate before each start for that day. But once at idle ran fine. I changed the battery(was pretty low) and the bike just clicked. The other day when troubleshooting with fuzes, battery and connections I got the bike to wind up but not fully turn over. Attempted twice more (same result) and on my third attempt it yet again gave me the infamous “click” By now the bikes been sitting 3-4 weeks. The dash does not go off when the solenoid clicks.

So, it started on but slow until battery change? Do you have pier commander that hasn’t been reinstated correctly? Have you reversed polarity?
Yes,pier commander? Yes I have. I have been shooting the battery. I was told to link solenoid connection together and bike would not start but discovered today that when I did so that the voltage dropped to 12.1. I am charging my battery and will try again tomorrow or another batt.
Power commander. Phone typing...! Symptoms would be too low a battery on my triumph, but can’t say I had it on my 848. It would just turn very slowly then not fire
Interesting. Sounds remarkably similar. Did you fail to put the pc terminsl back on the battery terminal or put it on the wrong one? Did the pc survive?
So it wasn't so much running rough as turning over reluctantly. Definitely a single solenoid click, not the clicking of a sprag clutch not gripping?
Sorry, 'not in Triumph ' is a little cryptic. Surprising that no pc power would stop the engine turning over but it sounds like a good clue.
