Traded in my 959 Panigale for a base 1260. Basically although the Panigale was great if I was in (for me) a racing crouch, normal riding around was causing my bad shoulder gip, so I’ve gone for the Multi. First venture into Multi ownership. Will be asking for advice once I’ve got the new bike. Let’s hope I’ve not made a mistake as I’ll certainly miss the Panigale’s looks.
The 1260 has been out for a while now so a few will have some inputs I'm sure. I get what you mean. the bikes that excited me the most looked like they would. The bikes that did everything it should , reminded me of a ford focus. Just think of it as a new chapter and see how you get on.
Good choice, I also traded my Panigale 1199S for a 1260 and am very pleased with it after 7500miles. It's my 1st Multistrada too and it's fast & super-comfy even compared to BMW GS's which were my commuting & European holidays bikes for years. The added bonus is that even on hot days like today you don't get fried by the heat from the Panigale's engine & exhaust. I know the Multi's looks are not to everybody's taste but I think it looks good. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do Jon.
Welcome....I’m sure it’ll take a little adjustment but the Multistrada is an awesome bit of kit on the road. Once you get used to it you can hustle most Sportsbikes if you’re on it. The better view will allow you to plan and position better. The motor is epic and the suspension is top notch. We will of course need pictures, with bins.
Same boat. Traded my 899 in for a 1260 PP. awaiting delivery and wondering if I’ll miss the sports bike. I started to find the 899 limited with regards to comfort and covering distance. On the test ride I was probably just a quick on B roads as I was on the 899.... maybe quicker actually.
Guys you will love the Multi, it may feel a little strange at 1st after your Pani but once youve got dialled in its an amazing bike I love my 1260PP, and had a 1200S before that, and always had sports bikes prior My mate has a Pani and only ever gets ahead on the smoothest fastest of roads, which we don’t have many! But never out of sight!! And I’m always the one with less aches n pains afterwards
Interested in your thought about the Pikes peak. I’ve only test rode the 1260s. Also how load is the termi slip on?
I must admit, I do miss the skyhook on the PP when I’m taking a pillion, but as the Mrs doesn’t go on the back much now the manual Ohlins is great for solo riding especially if your on the pace The Termi slip on isn’t to loud as all the silencing is done in the Cat, however I have removed the exhaust butterfly valve so it’s got a little bit more noise and character, but nothing like the full system
Things that get on my nerves with my DVT are; brilliant headlight but lights the stars with a pillion onboard and also very chuggy around town (again two-up). Things I like are the comfort / power when in the mood to make progress and that it looks like a supermoto on steroids when parked up. Still not figured out where the "Muttley" nickname came from - my guess is auto correct of multi?? Who knows... Ben
I traded my 959 Panigale for a 1260 Pikes Peak. I don't regret having the 959 Panigale for three wonderful seasons. Loved riding that bike. However, circumstances has changed. I don't go to the track as often as I though I would. Moreover, I needed a sport bike that could also be used to ride two-up with some possible luggage space. My Monster 1200R can either ride two-up or fitted with SW-Motech Blaze panniers but not both simultaneously. Furthermore, the Monster's seat is not the most comfortable for a passenger. Consequently, The 1260 PP is it. The Monster will now serve as my hooligan street bike with occasional track use. I may even take the Multistrada to the track to check it out.
Budgie face? I had a 2014 DL1000 prior to my multi and it looked like Gonzo, so a win all round for me!
Coming from a line of jap 1000cc sportsbikes, a mille and a 848. The 1260S gives me a smile every time I ride it. A tourer should not really do what this thing does Did a trackday and kept up with the pack though scraping the pegs, shift-, breaklever and some of the center stand. Stiffer springs would be an upgrade for me if I was doung more trackdays. This thing really is a hooligan, with the termi kit and upmap it is also a wheelie monster in 1. And 2. Gear. I was one of those really thinking about the V4, but I decided to go the multi way and I’m not looking back.
