What are you guy's using for Antitheft? What are the best ways to secure the bike at work or other location that doesn't use large chains and locks ? Basically, without having to commute with massive chains and other heavy devices in a backpack or on the bike while ridding. Some options are lojack and tracking type things, any ideas? I have been looking at the Xena type locks that are easily transported.
I use one of these, https://grip-lock.com/home/ and there are these but can’t remember what the manufacturer’s name is http://www.ducati.com/accessories/d...r=&idCategory=4&nameOrder=desc&sortOrder=rate Andy
Yes Progression Roadlok, Mounts to the caliper, you just need to carry the plunger which is quite small and easily carried under the seat, have one on my Ducati. Paul
You are in the U.S.A . just sit there and shoot the first tw4t that tries to nick your bike . The word will soon get out that it is not an easy target. i wish we could carry guns to shoot bike thieves over here.
You could try something like this, https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/140286 Andy
If you don't want to carry around a heavy chain then why don't you just leave it attached to something where you're going to park the bike at work? You don't have to lug it about. That's what millions of cyclists do. A heavy chain (preferably attached to ground anchor or other un-choppable item) is the best protection, isn't it?
I dont think anything is "unchoppable" - i think that most chains sold today are based on the time it takes for it to be "chopped" ie slowing down said naer-do-well....
That's a fair point . Time is indeed what you buy, I suppose - or perhaps making your bike less attractive to thieves. On that subject, I have a friend who has hand-painted his very expensive pushbike to make it look as much like a crap bike as possible. I don't suppose a knowledgeable thief would be deterred, but if your thief is after something shiny and new, they'll walk past... ... And my nephew secured his (£200-ish) pushbike to a small tree and it was stolen by means of sawing through the tree. The insurance tried to refuse payment but eventually coughed up because he'd taken precautions that were proportionate given the value of the bike. It took them a long time, though!
